Underclassmen That You Need to Know

With the high school basketball season coming to an end, I want to present some underclassmen that people need to start taking notice of in the years to come. The underclassmen in this article have many strengths that I believe can translate onto the next level. These underclassmen have time to improve upon their strengths and I will be tracking the progress of each underclassman throughout the rest of their high school basketball careers.    [player_tooltip player_id='2252498' first='Alim' last='Olajuwon'] is a 6'5 prospect in the class of 2027 that will only improve with time. Offensively, Alim excels at attacking the basket due to his ability to create for himself putting the ball on the floor. Defensively, he possesses a long wingspan that allows him to get into passing lanes and also cover a lot of ground being able to guard all positions on the floor. In the next two years I can see Alim being a D1 commit if he can expand his game further from where it is currently.     Don't be surprised if Kendric Mitchell of C.E King High School has a standout season next year. C.E King High School just finished the season with the majority of their players being seniors. With that in mind Kendric will have a big role next school season and I believe he will make a big impact. Kendric is a 5'7 freshman that excels at playmaking setting his teammates up for open shots on offense. In press breaks he handles pressure from defenses very well not allowing defenders to dictate his pace with the ball in his hands. Kendric also isn't scared of contact attacking the basket in transition.     [player_tooltip player_id='2399909' first='Will' last='Arriaga'] is a 6'6 sophomore in the class of 2027 that will be a big part of Houston Christian Basketball for the next two seasons. Mainly playing the two big positions this season when I watched him play, he excelled at rebounding the ball on both ends of the floor. Will boxes out underneath the basket to position himself well enough for rebounds sealing defensive stops and giving his team second chance opportunities. Without the ball in his hands offensively he cuts to the basket well giving himself easy opportunities at the rim.     [player_tooltip player_id='2556295' first='Peter' last='Dorsey'] is a [player_tooltip player_id='2556233' first='6'2' last=''] Freshman from Houston Wheatley High School that has the tools to improve greatly. He possesses a big frame that he uses to his advantage on the court. With his frame offensively he finishes inside the paint well, finishes through contact which gets him to the line a lot and positions himself in the post aggressively creating opportunities for paint baskets. Peter also goes after rebounds with a relentless pursuit. I will be watching to see what he improves on next season!     [player_tooltip player_id='2125247' first='Marneko' last='Thomas']'s energy is very evident while he is on the floor as he will most likely be one of the main players impacting the game in multiple ways for Killeen Ellison High School. He doesn't shy away from hustling for his team any chance he gets. The 6'3 sophomore is very athletic being able to blow past defenders off the dribble on his way to the basket. Marneko has plenty of time to expand his game graduating in 2027. I see Marneko making some huge improvements with the time he has left in high school.     [player_tooltip player_id='2558213' first='Sean' last='Parks'] is a [player_tooltip player_id='2557749' first='[player_tooltip player_id='2557300' first='5'10' last='']' last=''] guard for Killeen Ellison High School that can heat up quickly scoring the ball. He is very quick handling the ball which he uses to create scoring opportunities. Offensively he gets downhill to the paint and gets to the spots on the floor where he is most comfortable making jumpers in the mid-range area especially. [player_tooltip player_id='2558213' first='Sean' last='Parks'] is going into his senior year next season where I believe plenty of college coaches will need his services scoring the ball at the next level.
