The 2A tournament kicks off on Thursday in Pendleton and for the first time, [player_tooltip player_id='2458208' first='Andrew' last='Imhoff'] will be there. It's the initial appearance for the lanky 6-foot-5 swingman because it's the first year Trinity Lutheran has played at the 2A level since he's been there and he's excited. It's the culmination of a stellar senior year and high school career that has seen him excel individually as well as capture the attention of college basketball programs, but first things first - the Saints are aiming for a title.

"I'm really happy with how it is so far, especially league," Imhoff said. "We scheduled a super hard preseason so that we could, you know, work as hard as we could in the preseason and then hopefully flow through league as easy as possible so I feel like we've done a pretty good job of that. So if we just take (keep taking) care of business, we should be able to make it to Pendleton and hopefully bring home a championship."

Imhoff has been the star for the Saints. He's been able to dominate both inside and outside with his game, and it's not all about scoring as he's capable of pulling down 20 rebounds - as he did in a late season win over Bonanza - and use his length and athleticism to make an impact on defense both in the passing lanes and as a shot-blocker underneath. He prepared for this season playing high-level AAU basketball with BOSS and it's all paid off.

"I mean, I owe all of it to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and He instilled the work ethic in me that I thought I could never have," Imhoff said. "I worked really hard with my coach this offseason on just my ball handling, my shooting, just all my skills. I'm just praying that the Lord would give me what I needed and he did - I'm blessed. I've been having a great season, especially with my teammates - I have great teammates. I just I think it's awesome, just the progression that our team has made, especially just even through this season."

As the season has progressed, a number of college programs have paid close attention to his progress. He's received attention from all levels and while he's keeping specific options close to the vest and is focused on the season at hand, he does hope to make the call not long after the year ends. "It's been a little bit busy as of right now and I'm hoping it'll all settle down and make a decision soon," Imhoff said. "I'm trying to keep it a little bit closed right now, just talking to my family and trying to make the decision that's best for me. It's definitely there and I'll definitely be making a decision soon.

Imhoff noted that he's not hung up on the level of play, and knows about the new ruling where he could go to junior college and not lose any eligibility at four-year schools so the potential to go JUCO first to work on building up his body is a possibility. It's open right now and he broke down what he's looking for in a program.

"I like defense and I want to get better at my defense especially, so I'm looking at colleges to have the focus on defense," Imhoff said. "Also, being in a small school like this, I have a lot of community with my teammates. I know my teammates really well, they're all my brothers, and I just want that super tight-knit bond from the college. So yeah, those are the two big things I'm looking for."

Getting really serious about a decision will come after the year is over, one in which he hopes will end with some hardware in Pendleton - one where he knows the competition the likes of Western Christian and Portland Christian will be tough, especially considering the Saints have already played both this season.

"I mean, our Portland Christian game wasn't our best show, I guess, of our talent and our skills, and Western Christian, we were winning with four minutes left, so it's obviously there," Imhoff said. "It's just a matter for our team is just putting all four quarters together and just blending them all just to have a great game. So if we can do that, I think we should be good."

Imhoff currently ranks as the #81 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2025 rankings.
