Puget Sound Picks Up a Pair
Puget Sound has been active in recruiting the state of Oregon for their roster over the years and the trend has continued this spring. This past week the Loggers picked up a couple of commitments from the Portland area as both

from Valley Catholic announced that they would be starting their playing and academic careers with head coach Aubrey Shelton in Tacoma.
For Artharee, the commitment ended a recruitment that saw the majority of the schools Northwest Conference as well as others in the SIAC in Southern Carlifornia vie for his services. In the end, Puget Sound made the greatest impression on the versatile 6-foot-5 swingman, who stepped up as Gresham's leader in scoring and rebounding this past year.
"It definitely started after the first visit I went on," Artharee said. "Coach Shelton and the team welcomed me instantly and made me feel at home. I like that the school offers a very high level of education that will set me up for a successful life after sports and for the basketball side the team seems to have great bonds with each other and the coaching staff is great. I feel like I fit in being a bigger guard/wing and I'm definitely working on putting in pounds of muscle as well as just overall polishing my skills."
In Jarussi, the Loggers pick up an emerging big man who's best playing days may still be ahead of him. At 6-foot-7, the lefty was the anchor in the paint for Valley Catholic in their push to make the 3A state tournament, averaging 7.2 points and 5.4 rebounds on the year. Similar to future teammate Artharee, Jarussi cited reasons both on and off the court for his decision.
"I decided that Puget Sound was the right place for me to continue both my academic and athletic career because I love the coaches and the team and I feel like they are all the right fit for me and my game and it's truly a place where I can excel on the court," Jarussi said. "I really love the schools emphasis and expectations when it comes to academics, they truly don't mess around, and after all we are students first. I also love the campus, easily one of the best campuses I've seen and it's in a really great area and close to the city. I believe there are many opportunities that come with attending Puget Sound and I'm beyond excited for the next 4 years!"
Our congratulations go out to Artharee and Jarussi and their families on their decisions.
