NEXT Middle School Camp Texas: Floor Generals

Some players stand out as those leading by example as well as vocally on the floor. Below are a handful of players from the showcase that displayed that early and often.    Jacob is a physical, tenacious point guard that can impact the game on multiple levels. He's skilled at using his body to create separation on the drive and he's got an impressive spin move he likes to consistently utilize in the lane. He's an elite ballhandler and can get streaky from beyond the arc and inflict plenty of pain on the opposition quickly. He never walks down the court - constantly hustling and looking for his next opportunity. He attracts plenty of attention on his drives and seizes the opportunities to kick it to his teammates for wide open looks. He's got an impressive vertical ability and he likes to live in opposing passing lanes on defense and stack up extra possessions for his team. If his opponent is lazy with the ball at all, he's skilled at recognizing that and knocking the ball loose for potential steals. Gerrard has an impressive all-around game and he's only going to get better from here.     Kylen is a resilient, vocal combo guard with an unbreakable confidence and the ability to lead the charge for his team. He's a persistent player with patience that gives him the ability to figure it out as he goes and make smart decisions on the floor. He has impressive vision and IQ for his age - constantly surveying the floor to see what the defense is giving him. He's a solid two-way player you can depend on, consistently staying in front of his man, fighting around screens, and causing general havoc for his opponent. He's active in the paint when cleaning the glass and can finish through contact nicely. He's not afraid to go coast to coast if the opportunity presents itself. Toombs is going to turn a lot of heads in the coming year.     Jahrrend is an aggressive, poised point guard that recognizes and seizes opportunities throughout his games. He's a menace on the defense, sticking to his man and disrupting any plan they may have in store. He's always in the mix for loose balls and he's got a nice ballhandling ability that he uses to work his way out of jams and create instant offense. He's a smart passer, bouncing it past taller defenders to his streakers and going up and over the field when he sees his bigs running the floor. He's a physical guard that likes to use his body to create separation and he never panics under pressure. He's not afraid to defend players with size on him and he's a confident shooter with range that extends beyond the arc. Arnold is going to keep developing and will attract plenty of looks with his play while doing so.     Terrill is a long, sharpshooting forward that makes an impact for his squad in several key areas. He can get on a roll and shoot light out from beyond the arc and he seems to always be in the mix on both ends of the floor. He's a skilled defender with the hustle and heart to be recognized for that side of the ball alone and often doesn't hesitate to take on the most talented players from the opposition. His stature is lengthy for his age and he capitalizes on that by disrupting his opponents on defense and consistently altering and blocking shots. Binion will only keep getting longer and better - he has the potential to possibly become a big that can play the game like a guard and have versatility that instantly stands out to coaches looking to plug and play in multiple positions.     Carter is a long, speedy forward that is incredibly active on both sides of the ball and seems to be involved on every play for his squad when he's in the game. He's a master at picking off opposing passing lanes and taking it the distance for easy buckets. His ballhandling ability is extremely impressive and he consistently creates instant offense off his drives and a quick first step on his opponents. He's scrappy in the paint on both ends when cleaning the glass and regularly comes up with additional opportunities at the rim. He's creative in the air with how he uses the glass and alters his plans nicely to give himself virtually un-blockable looks. He has impressive burst vertically and he's constantly communicating on the court. Beltz is going to be turning plenty of heads with his play and he's absolutely one to keep on the radar.
