On Friday, March 21st I attended the first annual Attitude of Gratitude Senior All-Star Game located at the phhacility in Phx.

There were some impressive players on hand for both teams. It was a well rounded group with great size, length and skill. Of the 16 players who participated we had five who are already verbally committed and many more who will eventually.

Here were the standouts that caught my eye.

[player_tooltip player_id='1432044' first='Ethan' last='Stokes'] Rancho Solano Prep

A wing forward is highly skilled and athletic. He loves the mid-range jumper and gets good elevation with it. He will score with offensive rebound put backs plus can score thru the contact while taking a bump. He scored 9 points with multiple rebounds using his springs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2107106' first='Andre' last='Thomas'] Eduprize

A high wire face-up forward with some serious springs. He flies on the break and will score with dunks and offensive rebound put backs. He makes his money with his defense and had the best block of the night as he met an opponent at its highest point. He scored 6 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275632' first='Lex' last='Clontz'] Cesar Chavez

The MVP of the winning team and Co-MVP overall scored 21 points to lead all scores. He scores it every way with Dirk fall aways, deep threes off the catch or pull, layups in traffic and even dunks on the break. The Embry-Riddle commit keeps getting better.

[player_tooltip player_id='1674466' first='Connor' last='Morris'] ALA Gilbert-North

A long and athletic wing forward with some skill. He can shoot it from the perimeter and has real vertical pop to score with lob dunks and run outs above the rim. He will score with put backs off the glass after he gains proper position and you will not see him take bad shots. He scored 8 points and committed to Pima CC.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150852' first='DeNali' last='McNeal'] Canyon View

A sturdy framed scoring guard who is very disruptive on the defensive end. He seems to get his hands on everything in the passing lanes with stronger hands and quick reflexes and anticipation. He will make plays to teammates plus score. He shoots the three with real range and uses a nice handle to get past his defender into the paint to score. He scored 8 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1371095' first='Noah' last='Oliver'] Canyon View

A thicker framed scoring guard with some versatility. He can play multiple positions and defend them as well. He will score with mid-range jumpers and even post up his defenders. He thinks the game and uses his frame to defend from inside the paint to the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039490' first='Noah' last='Adkins'] ALA Ironwood

A scoring point guard with a tighter handle. He is one of the states best shooters from the three point line with range. He gets the ball off his hands quicker then most and made an amazing 141 3's at a 40% clip. He also uses the floater game and scored 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2470115' first='Jaden' last='Fitzhugh'] Apollo

An athletic forward with incredible length and size for position. He glides in the air and he is a defensive type of player by nature. He will rebound and block shots at a good clip and will score with dunks easily above the rim off of a rebound. He is a capable perimeter shooter and uses his length to wall up inside the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986808' first='Asher' last='Perez'] AZ College Prep

A combo guard with a little size. He defends well and can score. He makes smart decisions with the ball and can find teammates. He will rebound at a good clip and score on put backs plus will collect steals. He is a capable perimeter shooter and is very competitive.

[player_tooltip player_id='1542272' first='Michael' last='Payne'] Cholla

An undersized point guard showed that he was the truest lead guard at the showcase. He has great pace and speed with the ball with a good feel for the game. He led all participants with 5+ assists with up the court ropes and slicing the defense up to find teammates. He will score with jumpers and blow by takes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1674465' first='Lamar' last='Anderson'] Dysart

One of the most versatile players in the AIA last year showed how valuable he can be to a team. A bigger sized guard/wing is super fluid with some athleticism. He is a rare player who can defend almost everyone on the court including smaller guards to bigger forwards. He will score with the catch three, mid-range jumpers and dribble drives. He scored 12 points. He verbally committed to Ottawa University and was named Co-MVP with [player_tooltip player_id='1275632' first='Lex' last='Clontz'].

[player_tooltip player_id='1336442' first='Zane' last='Gaul'] Prescott

The big man has a strong base and comes with skill. He will hold his ground deep inside the paint plus score with dunks, hook shots, put backs and deep threes off the catch. He rebounds well and keeps the ball high. He scored 11 points and verbally committed to Hawaii-Pacific University.

[player_tooltip player_id='1430449' first='James' last='Steward'] Marcos de Niza

A bouncy bigger power forward is an above the rim threat each possession. He scores with polished hook shots, offensive rebound put backs thru contact and powerful dunks in traffic. He is a top of the food chain rebounder as he has pogo-stick like springs to grab the ball at its highest point. He scored 11 points and verbally committed to Northern Arizona University.

[player_tooltip player_id='2134484' first='Jamal' last='Ali'] Sahuaro

A long and taller forward with some athleticism combined with skill. He likes to face-up to the three point line and will rebound and block shots at a decent clip. He has a polished right hand hook shot that has steadily improved each season and he is a fluid mover. He scored 6 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2280869' first='Layfe' last='Clarkson'] ALA Queen Creek

A scoring guard with some size. He can score it from most spots on the court with fall aways in the post over a defender, dribble drives, catch threes and pull-ups off the dribble. He uses a stronger frame to get to the basket and scored 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2279898' first='Varney' last='Kamara'] North

A thicker framed guard with real size and strength. He will score with downhill drives using his build, back door cuts and he is a capable perimeter shooter. He makes his money as an incredible rebounder for his size. He has a great motor and competes so hard. He is a good passer and scored 6 points.
