UIL Playoff Standouts: Bi-District Top Performers (Pt. 2)

The Texas UIL basketball playoffs are officially underway, and the bi-district round did not disappoint. From dominant scoring outbursts to game-changing defensive efforts, this round was packed with high-energy matchups and standout individual performances.    With prototypical size and length for a high-level wing, Goosby's presence was felt on both ends of the floor. His long strides allowed him to get from the perimeter to the paint in just one dribble, showcasing elite footwork. A fluid shot creator, he showed deep range on quick pull-up jumpers in isolation and transition. Goosby moved effortlessly between dribble moves, often using change of pace and direction to create scoring opportunities. His ability to dip his shoulder on drives gave him an edge, allowing him to shield the ball, maintain balance, and create separation while finishing through contact. He showed a willingness to make the extra pass, turning good shots into great ones. His textbook jumper featured good elevation and a fluid catch-to-shoot motion, making him a reliable perimeter threat. Off the dribble, his explosive first step allowed him to put immediate pressure on the rim, attacking with sheer determination.     A one-on-one nightmare, Skinner's lightning-quick first step made him nearly impossible to stay in front of. With one explosive move, he blew past defenders before they even had time to react. His burst off the dribble forced defenses to collapse, creating constant scoring threats, whether finishing at the rim, drawing fouls, or setting up teammates.     Duke commit, [player_tooltip player_id='1225694' first='Shelton' last='Henderson'] showed off the most explosive first and second jump in the state. A true force of nature at the rim, he didn't just dunk, he attacked the basket with aggression. His slams were moments of sheer dominance, leaving defenders with little hope of contesting him in the air.     A natural shot-maker, [player_tooltip player_id='2436963' first='Trey' last='Edwards'] proved to be a scoring threat from anywhere on the floor. At his best when creating for himself, he generated separation with sharp change-of-direction moves and tight dribble combinations before quickly rising into his pull-up jumper. His ability to score at all three levels made him a constant problem for defenders.     Newman's tight and reactive handle made him lethal off the bounce. If defenders reached or leaned too much, he immediately countered and attacked. His game wasn't just about speed, he played with multiple tempos, using sudden stops, starts, and changes of direction to keep defenders off balance.     A skilled big man with a high basketball IQ, Andrews was just as effective as a scorer as he was a facilitator. He displayed impressive vision out of the post, dropping unbelievable dimes to cutting teammates like he had eyes in the back of his head. When calling his own number, he showed polished footwork and touch, making him a reliable presence on the block.     Williams excelled as an off-ball scorer, always in the right place at the right time. He found shot opportunities within the flow of the offense, quickly spacing or drifting into openings on the wings and corners. His constant movement made it easy for teammates to kick the ball out whenever defenses collapsed—they always knew he'd be spotted up, ready to catch and fire.
