On Tuesday, February 11th I watched the match-up of #1 in 4A Sahuaro hosting #13 ranked in 4A Mica Mountain.

On senior night, despite [player_tooltip player_id='1893665' first='Cisco' last='Llamas'] scoring 40 points for Sahuaro, Mica Mountain pulled off a big upset with [player_tooltip player_id='2135689' first='Jordan' last='Porter'] scoring 10 of the teams final 15 points or so to win it 68-63 in an exciting game. Mica was leading throughout the game but Sahuaro was definitely within striking distance every step of the way.

Unfortunately [player_tooltip player_id='1950902' first='Ayumu' last='Lara'] is out for the season and the home team felt his loss on this night.

Here were the standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2135689' first='Jordan' last='Porter'] Mica Mountain

An undersized scoring point guard led the way for the team with 22 points. He scored 10 critical points in the fourth quarter with high arcing floaters, deep threes off the catch and quick speed drives. He is very smart and will make plays with either hand. He hit 4 threes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674071' first='Aidan' last='Erwin'] Mica Mountain (Pictured)

A scoring guard is one of their main producers nightly. He will fill it up with driving layups, isolation blow by's, pull-ups from mid-range and threes off the catch. He is cerebral to make a play for a teammate. He scored 13 points.

Jimmy Leon PF 6'4 2025 Mica Mountain

The Curley Culp winner of Arizona (Best D lineman award and UTEP football commit) is a tough competitor. He uses his frame and girth at 240 lbs around to rebound and box out his defenders. He will shoot it from the three point line and also crab dribble down low to score. He scored 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2134328' first='Joshua' last='Puente'] Mica Mountain

A scoring guard does some little things during games to help them win. He always moves the ball to the correct player and is very unselfish. He hit a deep three at the buzzer of 3rd quarter that gave them some breathing room. He is scrappy on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2672897' first='Ayden' last='Bay'] Mica Mountain

A scoring combo guard is a nice piece to the puzzle. He is very smart and skilled. He will shoot it with mid-range pull-ups off the dribble, get to the free throw line and hit the catch three. He handles the ball well enough to create his own offense. He scored 7 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956214' first='Brandon' last='Nickels'] Mica Mountain

A highly skilled combo guard looks like he grew a little. He is one of their scoring weapons off the bench and will definitely start next year. He scores with driving layups and threes off the catch with range for days. He scored 5 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1893665' first='Cisco' last='Llamas'] Sahuaro

A dynamic scoring lead guard will fill it up from all levels. He will score with blow by layups with his incredible speed with the ball and hits deep threes with real range off the dribble or catch. He will also dive on the floor to collect steals and is just tough despite his size. He scored 40 points with 4 3's and 16 FT's made unofficially.

[player_tooltip player_id='2134484' first='Jamal' last='Ali'] Sahuaro

A very athletic face-up power forward is a high level rebounder in his area. He will score with mid-range fall aways off of his defender, offensive rebound put backs and deep threes. He had his own personal run in the 3rd quarter to bring the game closer with 7 straight points. He scored 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2773511' first='Jamaal' last='McCraney'] Sahuaro

A tough senior wing forward is the teams glue player. Last year this role was Nick Ponds and now Jamaal is stepping up his game. He is a very good passer and will block shots and rebounds everything near him. He scores off the glass or on cuts to the basket. He scored 4 points.
