The start of high school basketball playoffs in the state of Texas has been off to a hot start and fans couldn't ask for any better. Teams looking to advance are showing that they want the smoke every time they step on the floor, and this has brought competitive basketball directly to the city of Houston. We attended three games last week and Booker T Washington, Wheatley, and PA Memorial all came out as winners from these respective contests. Let's examine the great games of some of these top prospects!

If there was one motto to describe Wheatley's opening round win over Tarkington, it would be "Mr. Sanders, have yourself a game"! Quinton had a team and game high 35 points through three quarters and completely dissected whatever defense the opposition threw at him. The Dawson Community College commit showed that he can shoot the ball at an efficient clip from deep range, as well as create for teammates and attack the rim with ferocity. Sanders also added 8 assists in the game as the Wildcats took the dub home with a final score of 91-63.

[player_tooltip player_id='2557571' first='Robert' last='Jones'] was an all-around threat in Washington's opening round game domination of Livingston. Jones constantly is able to get himself to the foul line, drawing contact as he dribbles his way to the basket and makes the most of his free throw opportunities. His aggressiveness on defense was also key for the Eagles as he was able to throw ballhandlers off their game with physicality and timely steals to create fastbreak scores for his team. Robert is a great vocal leader for this Eagles team in his senior year and will surely draw college looks with this type of play. Jones came away with 18 points and 6 rebounds in the 79-54 win for Booker T to advance to the next round.

Kendall was having one of those types of games where he could not miss from 3-point land in the Titan's win over Iowa Colony on Tuesday. Hilstock hit 6 long range bombs as PA Memorial took home a 77-64 win and completely shut down the opposition with game changing momentum in the second half. Kendall has gained several collegiate offers over the past few months with his strong play on both ends and continues to gain traction as a high potential prospect who plays better as the lights shine brighter. He ended the win over the Pioneers with 24 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Davin is another prospect from PA Memorial who had an outstanding game in their win over Iowa Colony. The 6'5 do-it-all wing showed some range from deep when left open and also had several key buckets in the paint to help PA Memorial keep the momentum swinging their way. Probably the biggest aspect of Davin's game to watch this contest was his defense. I counted about 6-7 blocks for him in the paint, sending away opponent's shots left and right off the glass and out of bounds. Mercer is an intriguing prospect to watch as he can function at either the guard, wing, or post position and has different ways to impact the game with his play. He can rebound on both ends, occasionally shoot the long ball, finish through contact, and cash in transition buckets. Davin had a total of 20 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
