While everybody basically knows that he can shoot the ball, he showed that his game is much more than that. Champagne showed that he could attack the mid range. He came off a screen and buried a mid range jumper and used a shot fake and a bank from mid range. Champagne was really good off the dribble handoff, connecting on 2 triples from the top off the same play. He also used the retreat dribble and attack to finish at the rim used a jump stop and a pivot to finish off 2 feet.

Beard and is Farmington squad played hard and played well in the loss to Oxford. He was definitely at his best going at the rim with the ball in his hands. Beard scored from the mid range on a baseline take. He was also able to finish through contact at the rim. Beard had a highlight reel play when he split 2 defenders off the bounce and added a creative finish. He was even able to push the pace off the bounce when he went coast to coast with the ball and used a stutter step to finish at the basket.

Miller was simply outstanding in a big win against East Kentwood. I was impressed with his strength and physicality in this contest. He was able to do a lot of work around the rim and got to the free throw line often. I had at least 9 trips to the stripe in my notes with him nailing every single one of them. Miller scored off a put back and a pretty spin and score in the paint over his left shoulder. He had a powerful finish on the block off of 2 feet. Miller had a couple very impressive passes as well. He had a pretty drop off pass to a cutter and later hit another cutter in stride for an assist.

East Kentwood's got something here with this young man. It was his energy and effectiveness on the defensive end that stood out the most. Jones forced a tie up quickly as he entered the game and followed that with a steal that turned into instant offense for his teammate. Jones hustled back on transition defense and beat an offensive player to their spot which forced a turnover. He also picked up an open floor block. Jones showed that he could distribute and score on the offensive end. He had an on target transition bounce pass for an assist and a nice dump off pass for another assist. Jones scored multiple times off physical dribble drives to the rim.

Stoffan was solid in the conference championship clinching win for Oxford. This game was about way more than the stats for Stoffan. He was smart and effective with the ball throughout the course of the night. Stoffan was a very effective passer and had a pretty post feed early. He later picked off a pass for a steal and followed it with an assist while on the move. Stoffan scored off a catch and shoot wing 3 and a cut, catch and score.

Rice showed some flash in the close loss to Oxford. He was confident with his shot and with his ability to make plays off the bounce. He had a smooth catch and shoot triple. Rice used a shot fake and take to attack and score. He then utilized a right to left crossover that ended with a righty finish at the rim. Rice pressured the ball, picked up a steal and fed it to a teammate for am assist.

District matchups are in sight, so I've been off trying to see as many prospects as possible. I've been lucky enough to see some top notch guard play as of late. I'm going to give you some guard evaluations from a handful of games seen over the last week.
