<p>Saturday, February 1st I attended the <strong>Grind Session</strong> at AZ Compass Prep. There were some high level high school games from teams around the country battling it out all weekend long. </p>

<p>A transfer by way of Brentwood Academy. He is a bigger guard who is very skilled. He can rattle in threes off the catch with a pretty looking stroke with range. He is best as a standstill shooter and he is a sneaky good passer. He will crash the glass and get boards as a plus rebounder for his size and gets blocks from behind on the weak side. He poured in 20+ points. </p>

<p>A quick and fast pure point guard is a defensive dynamo. He has super quick hands and feet to contain his opponents. He scores with the floater game and seems to get to the basket with ease. He is extremely quick with open court speed. He is also a big time passer who will drive and kick it or will dump it off to a post player. </p>

<p>A point guard who can score and defend. He will drive and kick it with good decisions threading the needle. He plays at a good pace changing speeds to get a step on the defender. He has a sharp pull-up and he can hit the three. </p>

<p>A bigger guard can do a little bit of everything. He will score with blow by's with either hand thru some contact. He can step back and shoot it from mid-range and he keeps his dribble alive amidst heavy pressure. He is very good at getting downhill and has a sharp pull-up off the dribble. He will drive and kick it and is a plus rebounder for his size. He scored 20+ points. </p>

<p>A good sized combo guard is your classic 3 and D type. He will hit the corner three and he is a downhill attacker to the basket with a nice handle and some toughness. He keeps his opponents in front of him with quick hands and feet. He scored 10+ points. </p>

<p>A thicker framed scoring guard is a bucket. He is extremely strong and can get to the basket with straight line drives. He will score with mid-range pull-ups, he runs the floor well, hits the catch three and can bully his way down low to score. He scored 15+ points. </p>

<p>An undersized combo guard is athletic and skilled. He is quick on the break and he will easily dunk it above the rim. He will hit the catch three in rhythm and bring some energy to the court on the defensive end. </p>

<p>A very quick scoring point guard controls the flow of the game. He will score with blow by bursts of speed to the rim with his left or right hand. He got hot from the three and has some range off the catch.</p>
