I won't mince words here... it wasn't close. Belmont hill got off to a strong start and never looked back on their way to a 76-49 win over Brooks.

Below are my standouts from the game.

Langham is a 6-foot-5 wing who's a really special athlete with excellent physical tools. He jumps out of the gym and is incredibly strong, but he also has SUPER long arms. Offensively, he does a good job of getting to two feet and playing under control in the paint, and he showed a nice-looking shooting stroke against Brooks that was consistent and deadly. Defensively, Langham is a phenomenal on-ball defender and is incredibly versatile as a result of the combination of his size, length and strength. The Brown commit could definitely improve his creation skills, but he can also be a 3 and D at the next level immediately.

Robinson also impressed me with his on-ball defense; he's quick and handsy on the ball and is constantly scanning the weak side for opportunities to come over and get steals. He's also willing to take a charge on anyone, which is rare these days. Offensively, the lefty hit a good number of threes and showcased some solid IQ when coming off screens and handoffs. Some improvement in Robinson's right hand would go a long way in making him a more dynamic offensive player, but perhaps his defense and shooting are enough to earn him some minutes at Bates College next year.

Kaplan is a flamethrower with a quick, beautiful shot release. He can get his shot off by creating for himself or coming off screens and moving off the ball. I really enjoyed watching him operate in the pick and roll as a facilitator; he split a couple double teams very nicely and is able and willing to make all the passes you'd want a PG to make. Defensively, Kaplan plays hard and slides his feet well, though he's a bit undersized. His ability to play both on and off the ball will help him succeed at Emory University moving forward.

Wilkins was virtually the only Brooks player that could get anything going offensively against Belmont Hill. Without much creation or shooting help, he carried a bafflingly high load but still managed to put up some decent numbers. He has deep range and is an athletic, lanky finisher at the rim. He takes some questionable shots at times, but I have to imagine that's more situation-based than anything, because he shows some really nice flashes of vision and passing ability that should shine at Furman next year. It'll be interesting to see how much differently he plays in another environment.

I'm not really sure why Cantave doesn't start, or at least get more minutes for Brooks. They're not necessarily looking for any low-post scoring in their bigs, and he does a really good job doing the little things. He fights his behind off for rebounds and is a good vertical athlete – he had two dunks against BH where he showed his great second-jump ability and athleticism. The skills are definitely still coming along for Cantave, but at least he plays hard and knows his role. Will be curious to see how the junior progresses.
