We checked out action from the Belleville East mid-winter tournament on Wednesday night as we caught the feature game of Althoff vs Belleville West. Fun game was tied heading into the final quarter where Althoff closed it out to win 71-61. Let's look at the prospects that caught our eye in Top Performers: Althoff vs Belleville West!

[player_tooltip player_id='2105165' first='Dierre' last='Hill'] Jr (Althoff – 2025 – Oregon FB)

Hill is a young man we wrote about a ton in the fall on the gridiron and he is back for his senior year on the hardwood. The Oregon football commit is a big and powerful two guard that brings that same explosive burst we saw as a running back when he is going coast to coast in transition. Blows past defenders like they are standing still. Finishes well around the rim, is a physical rebounder for a guard who gets second chance points, and is a solid defender. He had 23 points on the evening!

[player_tooltip player_id='2105302' first='Bryden' last='Gryzmala'] (Althoff – 2025)

This senior point guard is a great leader for the Crusaders. He is a high IQ guard that makes sound decisions. Quick and shifty handles breaking down the defense where he regularly gets in the paint for trips to the charity stripe. Solid three point shooter as well knocking in a pair of them netting 20 points in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id='2464538' first='Zach' last='Winkeler'] (Althoff – 2025)

Winkeler is such a great glue guy for this team. We really were impressed with his tenacity and anticipation flying in for offensive rebound put backs as a 6'1” guard on a regular basis recording four of them in the win while scoring 16 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1977254' first='Luke' last='Smith'] (Althoff – 2026)

Smith is the top junior for Althoff. Combo guard that can play both on and off the ball being impactful doing both which is a big plus that he brings to the table. Solid playmaker who makes good reads with the ball. Good shooter that knocks in open shots from three and overall just had a solid game which contributed to the win as he finished with 10 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2823498' first='Nick' last='Hankins'] (Belleville West – 2026)

For Belleville West their top player in this game was Hankins. He is a 6'1” combo guard that will be playing football next season as one of the premier defensive backs in the class. As a hooper he carried the Maroons on Wednesday night. Lefty got to his spots in the mid-range and rose up over and over for 15-18 foot pull ups. Really clean looking shot that he can stretch to three on occasion. Showed off the fluidity and athleticism on several drives while going for 24 points.

Julius Edwards (Belleville West – 2025)

Edwards is a senior guard that had 11 points in the loss. The lefty did a nice job of getting to the foul line, hit a three, and ran the floor hard.

Cameron Lowery (Belleville West – 2026)

Lowery popped to us as a 6'3” small forward who has good strength and a nice frame. Plays well through contact finishing a euro step and getting another and-1. Also knocked in a long ball for 8 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2458187' first='J'dyn' last='Lloyd'] (Belleville West – 2027)

Lloyd is a highly ranked sophomore prospect that had some flashes early, but never really fully got it going. Posted up for a score to open the game and got on the offensive glass for a put back. Did most of his damage from 10 feet in recording 6 points.
