I attended the annual Tarkanian Classic from December 15th-21st at Bishop Gorman HS, the Orleans Arena and other nearby Nevada HS locations. Many local teams challenged themselves throughout the week versus mostly West Coast competition in the prep or HS division.

Here were the standouts PG and CG's I watched

[player_tooltip player_id='1591738' first='Jeehzus' last='Pagan'] Boulder Creek

A cerebral defensive real point guard keeps improving his ability to score yearly. He can hit the three off the catch, burst to the basket and pull-up off the dribble. He is very quick on the ball defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1323290' first='Mason' last='Magee'] Basha

A pure point guard who will facilitate, score and defend. He will often throw the extra pass and will drive and kick it to a shooter and thread it in. He will score with mid-range pull-ups and threes off the catch, blow by buckets, floaters and his on-ball defense is elite. A rare player who will pick up his opponents the length of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2211006' first='Jordan' last='Charles'] Bella Vista Prep

Another event and another good showing. He is a tough player who collects steals in bunches and rebounds well despite his size. He will often take it coast to coast in heavy traffic as he scores thru contact. He is an incredible passer and will thread it in. He will ball fake and go to the basket and scores with threes, floaters and has speed on speed.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432465' first='Jayce' last='Underwood'] PHH Prep EIBC

A real pure point guard who comes off the bench and is looking to set up his teammates. He has a high feel for the game and sees the court quickly. He has long arms to play the passing lanes and he can score with quick drives and catch threes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2176822' first='Christian' last='Jones'] Hillcrest

The Siena commit is a pure point guard and is always looking up to make a play. He has one of the tightest handles in the state with the ball on a string. He will pull-up off the dribble from mid to the three point line and burst to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='996176' first='Bryce' last='Quinet'] Notre Dame Prep

Arguably the best single game performance from AZ was Quinet. He scored 34 points with deep threes off the catch or pull, crafty takes to the basket and has an elite change of directions and speeds handle. He keeps his dribble alive in heavy traffic and goes to work. A tough cover from all levels for the Evansville commit.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150940' first='Rowan' last='McKenzie'] PHH Prep EIBC

A scoring combo guard is finally rounding into form after being injured last year. He can score using the floater game, tough drives to the basket with contact and threes off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2122232' first='Kaden' last='Arnold'] Skyline Prep

A combo guard who can score with quick drives, he is good on the break and will score with strong takes and he smartly plays off of two-feet to make a play for his teammates. He brings some energy on defense with good activity.

[player_tooltip player_id='1451027' first='Dennis' last='Johnson III'] Phhoenix Prep EIBC

A lefty good sized combo guard is a play maker who can score. He will put up points in a hurry with catch-3's, mid-range pull-ups and takes long strides to the basket with plus body control. He rebounds well with long arms and has some springs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1464983' first='Mick' last='Riordan'] Boulder Creek

A combo guard can play on or off the ball. He is a real shot maker from mid to the three point line and will fall away from the high post. He rebounds the ball well and can score on put backs and has the feel to make a play. He is a very steady performer every showing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2241513' first='Lyris' last='Robinson'] Bella Vista Prep

A true combo guard who has great size and is a very good passer with an unselfish nature. He scores with threes, quick drives to the rim and will score on put backs. He has quick hands on defense and he is a top rebounder for position.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276223' first='Kingston' last='Montague'] Basha (Pictured)

A walking bucket can fill it up from mid to the three. He has the most confidence in his abilities to score. His pull-up from mid-range off the dribble is tough to contain. He can also drive it with either hand plus make a play for his teammates.
