Game Action On Long Island

Here are some players and games we attended in the last few days. Bayshore in Suffolk county are making another run at a county title at 8-0 in conference and 15-1 overall. They lived up to their billing with a 88-48 beating on Sachem North. Staying in Suffolk Eastport South Manor with a young team upset one of the early season favorites in Suffolk 66-64. Baldwin a perennial favorite to win Nassau raised their record to 8-1 in conference with a 66-41 convincing win over Long Beach. Elmont hoping for another county championship at 8-1 in conference had an impressive win 78-34 . Valley Stream North might not be the most well known team in Nassau but they have continuously won games a lot of times under the radar. A well coached club with a talented mix of young and older players they continued their winning ways against Plainedge 49-45, improving to 6-2 in conference and 13-3 overall. Here are the players who led their teams in these games and during the season.    Chase went over his season average in this game with 25 three over his season average of 22ppg. Outstanding from three he is even more effective weaving his way to the rim and scoring in a variety of ways. Great court vision and awareness. Very good in the open floor.Excellent handle changes speed and direction in a flash. Our #1 preseason player in Nassau is living up to our billing.     Brady led the way in this upset win for ESM. Averaging 15 ppg on the season he had had 22 on this night. He is one of the best three point shooters on the island. But he is also very crafty with a nice handle. When they play him tight to take away his long range bombing he is able to beat you off the dribble with quickness. Excellent vision. He comes off of screens tight and ready to shoot it with his hands and feet set.     Carter was our preseason #1 player in Suffolk and he has lived up to our expectations. Averaging 18 ppg. On this night he had 22 and 12 assists. This is a typical night for him. He has the ability to take over games but also realizes it's a team game and his job is to get his teammates involved. Lightning quick with the ball. Really good with changing direction and pace. Outstanding handle.     Our #2 preseason player in Nassau raised some eyebrows, well games like this should not question it too much. He is averaging a double -double. Many nights he is getting 15 rebounds . In this night he garnered 20 rebounds. A imposing figure in the lane. Uses his strength to clear space. Scores inside with toughness and good hands. Converts from the charity stripe as well . Runs the floor really. Sets up in the post really well but also cuts sharp to gain position. Has the physical frame to deter opponents from driving the lane.     Averaging 15 ppg on this night he met his average. A really good shooter he finds ways to score the ball. Crafty and quick with the ability to get open looks.
