Eric Ottens Shootout: More Top Performers

Fulton, IL - The 2025 Eric Ottens Memorial Shootout was a great day to witness a lot of well rounded basketball talent. The games did not disappoint with many highly competitive successful teams taking the court. I checked out 4 of the 8 games which featured teams with a combined record of 123-35. This is the 2nd of 2 recaps I have from players that had good showings. Played the post position against a zone today and tried to gain positioning to the best of his ability while using his body to his advantage. Pretty confident when he catches it down low and had plenty of finishes today in the paint. Had a nice cut and finish with an And 1. Seems to dribble it just fine if he needs to bring it down for his team. Is a quick selfless crafty guard who likes to actively defend on the ball and look for his teammates offensively. Can catch and shoot the 3 and score for his team but will dribble and kickout for assists as well per his positional duties. Took an offensive charge and plays the game with some fire and passion. His style of play at the point guard position would fit well at the next level. Does a lot of the extra work for his team in the paint. Seemed to step it up defensively against a 6'8 talented opposing player. Not a big body but team really depends on him to not come out of the game and be a hard laborer down low. Likes to scrap and battle for loose balls and got on the floor a couple times to win at those chances. Is a catch and shoot spot up 3 point player that made them today at a good percentage. Plays hard on defense full court and is pretty active which created turnovers. Took an offensive charge and plays with some emotion and passion for the game. Came into today and really caught fire early. Made atleast 5 3's in the first half while shooting it at a high clip. Took some longer range shots that he was comfortable shooting. Is deceptively able to handle the ball well while receiving pressure from the defense. Overall is consistent with what he does well. Has a strong amount of moves he'll go to on the offensive end. Most importantly helps creatte the up pace tempo style his team endures to play with in the break phase of the offense. Will out hustle his opponent and grinds it out defensively to create turnovers. Cleans it up on the boards after missed opportunities. Has good height and solid strength to play at the wing position for the next level. Was more offensively potent than last week with a rebound put back and a spin move on the block for a finish. Will grab a rebound off his own miss and is really comfortable in finding the open man for scores. Plays with a toughness demeanor in the paint. Tried his best to keep his team relevant in the game against the top ranked 1A team in the state. Takes it hard to the paint off the dribble and creates contact to go to the stripe. Will catch and shoot from 3 or start to attack and pull up for a mid range shot. Helped to create some turnovers with getting tips on the ball defensively while being active.
