Eric Ottens Shootout: Top Performers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fulton, IL - The 2025 Eric Ottens Memorial Shootout was a great day to witness a lot of well rounded basketball talent. The games did not disappoint with many highly competitive successful teams taking the court. I checked out 4 of the 8 games which featured teams with a combined record of 123-35. Can play the 1 - 3 at the next level and likes to board and scrap. Is a gamer that likes the rock in his hands and will go to a mid range game at times or will drive but still looks for the open man and plays unselfishly. In control with the ball when he retrieves it from the catch. Won't necessarily bang too hard in the paint but his finesse game is what keeps him very relevant. A couple nice finishes in the up tempo speed phase of the offense. Creates some issues down low for offenses because of his body size. Game still is consistent with the previous week. Will take tough shots in the paint and intentionally create contact over taller defenders but still finishes smoothly. Not afraid to dish it off to an open man and find guys for assists. Really loves to push the ball off makes to put pressure on the defense. Uses his speed and agility to his advantage. Can dribble off of a ball screen to drive or shoot. A 250 lb gentle giant who is also a 2,000 point career scorer and is the school's all time scorer that really likes to play physical in a smart high IQ way. Talks on the defensive end to help his teammates and for his size has quick feet to give him advantages offensively as well as defensively. Cleaned up on the boards and I would assume easily averages a double double nightly. Not an overly quick guard but gets to his spots on the bounce and had the most diverse offensive game today that I saw. Likes to give it to his big man down low but the biggest eye catcher was his mobility to dribble and pull up to get whatever shot he basically wanted. A few examples were jogging up with the dribble pull up from 3, come off the screen dribbling with a 3, 2 dribble and pull up from elbow good, 2 dribble pull up from the out of bounce side of the backboard good, and overall just had a soft touch with nice precision around the rim. Had 2 fast break 2 handed slam dunks in the first half alone. Does his job well at handling the ball and pushes it up tempo which creates offensive benefits for his teammates. Gets tips on the defensive end which creates turnovers and fast break points. Will split defenders on a zone and penetrate and dish. Likes to be a good teammate and has an excitement for them when doing things well. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
