LAS VEGAS — Bishop Gorman and other surrounding sites played host to the annual The Tarkanian Classic tournament, one of the nation's premier pre-Christmas high school basketball events. We were in attendance for championship day on Saturday and below we break down the top point guards we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956470' first='Chace' last='Holley'] | 2026 | Redondo Union

Holley is one of the keys to the Sea Hawks uptempo defensive pressure attack and his ability to speed up ball handlers, tip passes and force opponents to make quick decisions led to Redondo making a big comeback in the Platinum Division third place game. Holley also made an impact offensively, scoring 14 points to go along with six assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278438' first='Dash' last='Reiser'] | 2026 | Alta (UT)

Reiser earned MVP honors of the Gatorade Division as he led the Hawks to a championship win over San Diego-based Cathedral Catholic. The 5-foot-8 junior put on a virtuoso scoring performance with most of his damage coming via pull-up jumpers from the mid-range and there-point levels of the floor. Reiser flashed quick and savvy ball handling ability and elite confidence in his jump shot.

Jaylen Petty | 2025 | Ranier Beach (WA)

Petty, a University of New Mexico-signee, fits the bill of the type of point guard that has thrived with the Lobos over the last few seasons. The 6-footer is a dynamic scorer in half court and open court settings where he uses his speed and quickness to blow-by defenders for paint touches and his shiftiness to create space off the bounce for his consistent pull-up jumpers from mid-range and deep range. Petty finished with 20 points and seven assists in a win over Westchester Saturday.

Kristopher Coleman | 2027 | Eaglecrest (CO)

Coleman was one of the prospects who struck a good balance between scoring and playmaking for teammates. The 6-foot-3 sophomore averaged 16.8 points per game to help his team reach the championship game of the Spalding Division where the Raptors fell to Bingham of Utah. In the championship game, Coleman scored 16 points on 50 percent shooting, 2-for-3 from three-point range and dished out three assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278436' first='Luke' last='West'] | 2026 | Bingham (UT)

West was in control of the Spalding Division championship game from start to finish. The 6-foot-2 junior dropped his first mid-range jumper of the game and it seemed like from that point on he couldn't miss. West scored a game-high 29 points, including 6-for-10 from three-point range, in leading Bingham to a championship win over Eaglecrest of Colorado and his poise with the ball in his hands and confidence as a scorer stood out tremendously.

[player_tooltip player_id='2646501' first='NaVorro' last='Bowman'] | 2027 | Sherman Oaks Notre Dame

Bowman has played his way into the starting lineup for a Notre Dame team that is loaded with upperclass talent. The 6-foot-1 sophomore is a smooth ball handler and smart decision-maker whose burst of speed in open court and half-court offense allows him to put pressure on the defense and create open shots for himself or teammates. Bowman is at his best when pushing the pace in transition and has shown a willingness to be physical and tough on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630660' first='Myles' last='Walker'] | 2025 | Eastvale Roosevelt

Walker continues to be the unsung hero for Roosevelt. A couple of his talented teammates usually garner most of the headlines, but, if not for Walker's winning tendencies, the Mustangs wouldn't be as good as they are. The 5-foot-9 senior is an elite on-ball defender with quick hands and lateral speed that allow him to pressure ball handlers and force turnovers. Offensively, Walker is an automatic paint touch with his speed, a willing passer when he gets into the lane, but can also stop and pop jumpers or floaters when he has open looks.

Zak Paepke | 2026 | Alta (UT)

Like his teammate mentioned above, Paepke scored the ball efficiently from all levels of the floor. The 6-foot-2 junior poured in jumpers from all over the court with a lot of them coming via balanced and smooth shots off the bounce. When his backcourt mate Reiser wasn't peppering in jumpers it was Paepke who kept putting points on the board for the Hawks as they took down Cathedral Catholic in the Gatorade Division championship game.
