Last year, Pleasant Hill unexpectedly missed the 3A state tournament and you can bet [player_tooltip player_id='1591755' first='Gavin' last='Inglish'] is determined to not let that happen again. The 6-foot-3 senior knows a lot is dependent on his shoulders, so he took his off-season extremely seriously. Inglish worked on improving his overall game and played high-level club basketball with Dynasty to prepare himself for this year ahead.

With Dynasty, Inglish got the opportunity to play with and against high-caliber players. "I think it's always just a good experience playing that kind of competition," Inglish said. "And then coming back into school season, I think it only makes me better playing against a lot of the best competition areas in the Northwest. I think my defense and just like my lateral quickness got better. I think that was something that wasn't one of my strongest suits, and now that's something I feel like I've improved on and gotten a lot better at."

Another goal for Inglish was to garner interest as he wants to play at the next level. Throughout the spring and summer a number of college coaches watched Inglish play and many of the in-state NAIA and Division III schools have been in touch. Inglish named Bushnell, OIT, Pacific, Lewis & Clark, and Linfield as some of the schools that have been in contact the most. Pacific has given him a roster spot offer. "I've been talking to a handful, but I haven't really swung one way or another yet," Inglish said. "I'm still kind of weighing out my options."

A big year with another push toward the state tournament will help and that's something Inglish is staying focused on. The Billies are currently 8-2 going into the holiday break and while he's not necessarily scoring as many points in years past he's showing off a diverse game. He's enjoyed playing for new Pleasant Hill head coach [player_tooltip player_id='2819964' first='Luke' last='Jackson'] and learning from the former Ducks legend and NBA player.

"You know, just playing for a guy like Luke, you know, everyone always has a lot of respect for him," Inglish said. "And it's just, you buy into everything he says because of his experience and where he's been and he's just such a down-to-earth and humble guy that it makes you want to play for him and give him best effort always. I think I'm just trying to pick up as much as I can from him and sort of key in on little things that I didn't see before and didn't think of before, and that helps elevate my game."

Inglish currently ranks as the #17 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2025 rankings.
