On Monday, December 9th I attended the match-up of 4A Arcadia hosting 4A Prescott. Both teams most likely will be in the 4A playoffs and you can see both make some runs. Prescott is clearly one of the favorites to go to the 4A Finals.

I checked out all three levels with Freshman, JV and varsity.

Here were the standouts on the night

Freshman Game (65-41 Arcadia won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2689898' first='Caden' last='Lozen'] Prescott

A fluid athlete who can play both forward positions. He is a plus rebounder in his area and he can hit the three off the catch plus he can create his own offense with a decent handle. He has a good IQ and upside.

[player_tooltip player_id='2689901' first='Drew' last='Jolley'] Prescott

A bigger freshman post player is a very good passer and a finesse player. He will score with hook shots and put backs. He rebounds everything in his area and he is starting to face-up to the three. He has natural upside and looks to be close to six-foot nine or so one day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2689907' first='Matthew' last='McGadney'] Arcadia

The son of former college player Mack McGadney had a good showing. He is a smart passer and will drive and kick it plus he will outlet well and score. He will catch and shoot from the three and get out on the break and finish off tough layups.

[player_tooltip player_id='2689912' first='Kingston' last='Berry'] Arcadia

A quick scoring point guard is a step faster then most. He gets to the basket quickly and will score with euro steps with either hand in heavy traffic. He is good on defense to block shots and collect steals. He looks like he may be running the varsity team in a couple of years.

Junior Varsity Game (78-37 Mesa Mountain View won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2689934' first='Braden' last='Baldwin'] Arcadia

A combo guard who can score and defend. He will step back on his defender and shoot it, step thru to the basket and gets out on the break well with plus body control. He is long in the passing lanes and shows upside to play varsity next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2164464' first='William' last='Heinrichs'] Arcadia

A scoring lead guard is a dime dropper with a high feel for the game as he sees plays developing quickly. He can crossover into a mid-range pull-up and hit the three with step backs and catch jumpers. He has quick hands on defense and will be getting heavier minutes on varsity next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432466' first='RJ' last='Detroy'] Arcadia

A quickly improving wing forward is gaining confidence monthly it seems. He can finish well in traffic with a sneaky nice handle to create his own offense and make plays for his teammates. He often cuts for easy points and can throw it down on the break. He also had a very good showing on varsity with 9 points off the bench.

[player_tooltip player_id='2315516' first='Max' last='Straus'] Arcadia

A scoring lead guard will fill it up with ball fake into a three and will catch and shoot from the three point line. He will step thru inside the paint and get a steal and bucket. He can make a play for his teammates but is mostly looking to score. He scored 15+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2689946' first='Jack' last='Roope'] Arcadia

A post player is a natural shot blocker who moves gracefully from end to end. He will score inside with put backs and layups. Once he fills in, he will be better down the road for it. He is just scratching the surface. He also suits up on varsity.

Varsity Game (68-56 Prescott won)

[player_tooltip player_id='1336443' first='Uriah' last='Tenette'] Prescott

A dynamic lead guard is a three level scorer with 36 points with alley oop dunks, bursts to the basket and he is so fast on the break. There are not may faster end to end in the state as he puts immense pressure on the defense. He will collect steals on defense, rebound and even block shots. He also throws the lob pass perfectly.

[player_tooltip player_id='1336442' first='Zane' last='Gaul'] Prescott

The big man scored 19 points with driving layups, threes with deep range, drop steps. fade aways, alley-oop dunks, hook shots and he can crab dribble in the paint to score. He also cleans the glass and will block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2280476' first='Josiah' last='Peoples'] Prescott

A lefty defensive guard can defend and score. He shoots it a little from the perimeter and is great on the break. He will rip a pocket and lay it in on the other end. He will make plays for his teammates and brings some athleticism.

[player_tooltip player_id='2711816' first='Cooper' last='Magnett'] SG 6'1 2025 Prescott

A scoring guard is sneaky quick to the basket to score with runners and floaters. He is a smart player and plays off [player_tooltip player_id='1336442' first='Zane' last='Gaul'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1336443' first='Uriah' last='Tenette'] well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1938362' first='Jamison' last='Fox'] Arcadia

A very fluid and taller power forward can score and defend. He will rebound, block shots inside and move his feet on the perimeter. He scores with his fluid handle to rip thru, he has a nice touch inside the paint, he will do a quick layup in traffic and step out and shoot it from the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986845' first='Mason' last='Kendrick'] Arcadia

An athletic scoring guard has a high level mid-range pull-up off the dribble. He seems to live in the middle game and it is slowly becoming his sweet spot. He will get downhill and he creates offense for himself or others. He will rebound and block shots with his plus athleticism.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146268' first='Brock' last='Knee'] Arcadia

Brock is slowly becoming one of the top shooters in the sophomore class. He is a catch and shoot sniper with a super quick release from the three point line. Once he sets his feet, he is knocking it down. His feel for the game is improving to make plays and he sees it well. He hit four triples with 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2457861' first='Mykel' last='Simpson'] Arcadia

A top notch athlete defends the opposing best player nightly. He has quick feet and hands and rebounds the ball well with his athletic gifts. He will score with speed layups, floaters and loves to get downhill.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986844' first='Oliver' last='Fay'] Arcadia

He is currently the backup point guard but had a solid showing with moving the ball for assists, getting into the lane with his deceptive handle and burst. He likes using the floater plus hitting the three.
