Eisenhower Backcourt Shines in Win over Granite City

The first game was a consolation bracket contest which saw Decatur Eisenhower top Granite City 61-36. [player_tooltip player_id='2455400' first='Damonte' last='Phillips'] was fantastic as the 2027 guard first caught our attention over the summer and lit it up in this game. The lefty shooting guard is a plus shooter from deep who went 6-10 from beyond the arc dropping them in nothing but net. Also like what he did defensively using his quickness and anticipation creating turnovers. Solid rebounder for a guard as well. He had 24 points (9-14 FG), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Their point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2323268' first='Tishawn' last='Clemmons'] is a smaller lead guard who is super shifty off the bounce and creative in the open floor. Speed to burn, good passer, and was an active defender. The three ball didn't fall for him in this one, but he racked up the dimes and steals. Final line read 9 points (4-13 FG), 11 assists, and 6 steals. Garryon Henderson hit a few key threes for them on his way to 12 points.

Granite City has a junior 6'5” post in [player_tooltip player_id='2734418' first='Evan' last='Brewer']. Wide bodied undersized five was perfect from the field going 9-9 for 21 points. He has touch around the hoop, seals well, and hit 3-3 from beyond the arc. Definitely a 2026 to continue to monitor.

O'Fallon Looks Like the Team They Can Be in Win Against Collinsville

It has been a bit of a struggle for O'Fallon who had high expectations coming into the season. They looked like a team that can grow on a 7th place win on Sunday against host Collinsville 59-38. It was the [player_tooltip player_id='2724308' first='Eric' last='Swartz'] Jr game as the 5'10” senior point guard had one of the best games of his career as he controlled the pace and was unconscious shooting from both mid-range and three going 10-16 overall from the field and 4-9 from three. Also passed it well, didn't turn it over, and competed on both ends. He had 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 dimes. Their top prospect is 2026 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1501486' first='Ben' last='Akoro']. The wing couldn't find the touch on his usually reliable mid-range jumper, but we liked how he got to the rack using his long strides along with crashing the offensive glass. Went for 9 points (4-9 FG), 10 rebounds, 3 dimes, and 2 steals. [player_tooltip player_id='2734465' first='Jayden' last='Dancy'] is a 2026 that played a key role in their win as the strong bodied and high-motored 6'2” wing played downhill through contact and hit a couple threes for 14 points.

Collinsville shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2723830' first='Donovan' last='Coates'] is a 6'3” shooting guard that has posted big numbers the first half of the season. Liked what we saw out of the 6'3” two guard with his shot making ability creating his own shot with an array of pull ups. Did struggle a bit with the shot selection at times and forced some threes, but he is a scoring wing and his team needed points. Went for 16 points (5-14 FG) and 6 rebounds.

Triad Wins 5th Place in Tight Game Over Lincoln

This was one of the most competitive games of the day. Triad won 39-37 moving to 10-5 on the season with the victory. Oklahoma State baseball commit [player_tooltip player_id='1766468' first='Drew' last='Winslow'] earned All-Tournament team honors with a big performance in this game. Posted a double double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Winslow plays with a ton of physicality on the wing getting in the lane for touch finishes along with getting to the line where he was effective in the win. Junior combo forward [player_tooltip player_id='1552447' first='Tyler' last='Thompson'] is a wiry strong forward that turned it up in the second half making some key plays including getting to the foul line where he was 4-6 and showing good touch on a jumper. Rebounded well on both ends finishing with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Lincoln was pushed by 2026 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2734467' first='Brody' last='Tungate'] who had a big game recording 16 points (6-10 FG) (3-4 3PT). He was on fire from distance showing a consistent shooting stroke throughout the contest.

Wing Duo Leads MacArthur to Consolation Title

This was a fun up and down contest which saw Decatur MacArthur capture the consolation championship 86-76. MacArthur got great play out of their wings in this game. Their top prospect is 2026 small forward Sean [player_tooltip player_id='2403249' first='Lee' last=''] who is a strong bodied small forward that was in all out attack mode from the jump. He attacked downhill with burst on his first step along with getting to the rim where he finished so well through contact for and-1s. Almost all his points came at the rim or the foul line where he had 28 points (9-13 FG) (10-13 FT), 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Liked the passing feel he showed as well which is something we hadn't seen before. He did have 7 turnovers which he needs to cut down on. [player_tooltip player_id='2724226' first='King' last='Dees'] is a 2025 6'2” scoring combo guard that got what he wanted when he wanted them on drives and especially with his feathery jumper from both two and three. He was pouring in the shots one after another. The senior had 23 points (9-15 FG) (3-5 3PT) and 5 dimes. Should be on the small college radar. There are a pair of freshman worth tracking on this MacArthur squad in 6'2” projectable wings [player_tooltip player_id='2381555' first='Kendall' last='Howell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2369863' first='KT' last='Thomas']. Long and rangy wings that flashed two way potential Howell had 7 points (3-4 FG) while Thomas notched 5 points (2-3 FG) and a pair of dimes.

Oakville out of Missouri had a balanced attack. In the first half we liked what we saw out of guard Jack Storck who knocked in a pair of threes and showed some passing feel including a long outlet going for 8 points and 3 dimes. DJ McDonald had a big second half as he poured in buckets trying to keep his team in the game scoring 15 points (4-9 FG).

Althoff wins Battle of Belleville over East in 3rd Place Game

The 3rd place contest featured 2/3 of the Belleville schools in Althoff and Belleville East. Funny thing is I covered this football game back in September for Redzone with several players on the court playing big parts in that game as well. Like in September Althoff came out on top winning 58-53. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2105302' first='Bryden' last='Gryzmala'] was excellent in this game scoring 18 points (7-18 FG), grabbing 5 boards, and dishing out 3 dimes. Has such a fun soft touch finish game in the paint along with shake with the ball in one on one situations. [player_tooltip player_id='1977254' first='Luke' last='Smith'] next to him also racked up the dimes making a ton of great passes leading to assists or hockey assists as he had 4 points and 4 dimes. Football star [player_tooltip player_id='2105165' first='Dierre' last='Hill'] Jr came up clutch down the stretch getting a grown man put back along with shielding the ball on a tough layup down the stretch. Big time downhill slasher who had 9 points and 6 rebounds. [player_tooltip player_id='2323329' first='Kyle' last='Johnson'] is a long and lanky 6'5” post that has been our radar for several years, but the 2026 power forward had the best game we have evaluated him in this one as he went for 15 points (6-8 FG) and 5 rebounds. The southpaw started if off by hitting a three then went to work down low. Spin move into a hook for and-1, pick/roll finish, put back, cut off ball for score on out of bounds play, and he rebounded well. [player_tooltip player_id='2464538' first='Zach' last='Winkeler'] hit a three early and after that he lived at the line which finishing with 8 points and 5 rebounds.

For Belleville East it was senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2724403' first='Xavien' last='Moody'] who played way taller than his height. The smaller point guard was the best player on the floor for stretches with his quickness on both ends getting steals and taking them the other way. He plays with all out speed attacking the rim as he had 17 points (6-13 FG). [player_tooltip player_id='2358989' first='Troy' last=''] Alexander also had a nice game at the other guard spot as he notched 12 points (5-10 FG) and 5 rebounds. Power guard [player_tooltip player_id='2105219' first='Jacori' last='Brown'] stuffed the stat sheet for 5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal.

Quincy Looked Like a State Title Team Capturing Collinsville Crown

If the team that showed up on Sunday night for Quincy plays the same in March they will win state. That simple. They have a group of seniors that have been together for years that are ready for the big moment. Quincy met that moment on Sunday in a 68-47 win over a good Woodlands Christian (TX) squad to win the Collinsville Holiday Tournament moving to 13-0 on the season. The starting five scored all but one point in the game. Let's start with tournament MVP [player_tooltip player_id='1385308' first='Keshaun' last='Thomas']. The big bodied five man proved to college coaches who have questioned his shot that isn't an issue on Sunday night as he buried them one after another to begin the game for 3 in a row. Shot it with confidence and touch. Played with physicality around the cup on the glass and defensively. Also liked how he passed it finishing with 20 points (7-11 FG) (5-7 3PT), 9 rebounds, 3 dimes, and 2 steals. Top 10 senior and Santa Clara commit combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1385298' first='Bradley' last='Longcor'] shot it just ok from three in this game going 2-10 from deep, but still impacted in so many ways with his feathery mid-range game along with dishing out dimes one after another. Pocket passes and behind the back dishes. He had 16 points (6-19 FG) and 6 dimes. Austin Peay commit [player_tooltip player_id='1545125' first='Dominique' last='Clay'] was lights out from the perimeter as the shooter with size drained 4-6 from beyond the arc with his feathery shot. Also got out in transition and had a couple explosive takes off the bounce. He was also a monster on the defensive end in a 23 point (8-14 FG), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals performance. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1766498' first='Kamren' last='Wires'] is a quick floor general that sets his teammates up working great in ball screen situations as he had 3 dimes. Class of 2025 post [player_tooltip player_id='2304110' first='Mark' last='Louthan'] is a skilled face up four that can shoot it from three hitting both he took along with rebounding well in his area. He had 8 points (3-3 FG) and 5 rebounds.

Trey Pinkard is a 2026 point guard out of Texas who looked like the real deal in this game. The slick handling guard absolutely had the ball on a string. He was juking defenders all over the place with his ball handling in ball screen situations. Excellent passer in the half court along with having super deep range on his three point shot where he went 4-9 from deep. There was some Jeremiah Fears type stuff that we saw at the same stage of his development. The tight handles, deep shot making, and passing with flair. He had 18 points and 5 assists.
