College Commitment – Patrick Kilfoil (2025 Jesuit)
When it came down to it with his college recruitment, [player_tooltip player_id='1643228' first='Patrick' last='Kilfoil'] knew in his heart he had the right fit. So late last week, the tough 6-foot guarded decided to make the call and announce that St. Martin's would be his college home in 2025-26. There were multiple reasons why the Saints were the choice for the Jesuit senior and he expanded on all the reasons why he'll be heading up I-5 to Lacey, Washington next fall.
"It's a full-ride scholarship, so I'm supporting me and my family," Kilfoil said. "I love the coaches - they've been recruiting me for four years and I have like a really good connection through Marquis (Matthews) to them too, because Marquis played with the head coach. They're going to take care of me and I feel like I can go in there and really make an impact. I'm not trying to go somewhere and just sit on the bench - I want to go make an impact and then do what I gotta do."
Kilfoil made an official visit to campus this fall where he got a good sense of not only the program, but the school itself. "I like the team and the community was good," Kilfoil said. "I like the teachers - I went and watched a lecture and it was really good and that was intriguing. I'm going to this school to play basketball and win, and if I can go anywhere and have an impact, that's what I want to do."
The match was on the basketball court for sure and Kilfoil described the fit for him. "They play fast and I've been playing fast my whole life with drag screens coming off flare screens, away screens," Kilfoil said. ""I feel like I've always played with a college coach in Marquis for AAU (with [program_tooltip program_id='2248856' first='Players' last='Only']), so I've always held to that standard of playing fast and stuff."
With the college decision now off his shoulders, Kilfoil can turn his focus on to this season - one where he feels the ceiling for the Crusaders is extremely high. Thanks to his team-high 20 points, Jesuit opened up the Les Schwab Invitational with a win over Barlow and Kilfoil feels the best is still to come.
"We have the opportunity to be really good," Kilfoil said. "I mean, we just beat Barlow and they're ranked number one in the state, and I feel like we can even play better than that. We've just got to continue to compete and just do our thing, and then I feel like we can really make an impact this year and put us on a pedestal with the state."
Our congratulations go out to Kilfoil and his family on his decision. He currently ranks as the #10 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2025 rankings.
