On Monday, December 2nd I attended the match-up of 4A Cactus Shadows traveling about an hour to take on 5A AZ College Prep. Both teams have playoffs on their mind for their respective conferences and it was a good early test.

I checked out all three levels with Freshman, JV and varsity.

Here were the standouts on the night

Freshman Game (67-43 ACP won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2677329' first='Cash' last='Chapman'] AZ College Prep

A scoring point guard can rattle in points with off the dribble threes, running layup, and he can pull-up from mid-range. He has a nice looking shooting stroke from all levels and is deceptively quick. He is competitive on defense with quicker feet and plays smartly off of the pick and roll game. He scored 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2677328' first='Enoch' last='Adegoke'] AZ College Prep

A big man has long arms and a good frame to rebound the ball and block shots. He will score with put backs, spin moves in the paint and has a decent FT touch, but he can keep improving. He is a little raw but you can't teach his physical traits and he attacks the glass to rebound. He often scores thru the contact and scored 13 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2677331' first='Devin' last='Rolle'] AZ College Prep

A pure point guard is undersized but he can score and facilitate to his teammates, He has the up the court passes, pocket passes in tight spaces and some needle threaders. He scored 10 points.

Junior Varsity Game (62-56 ACP won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2677385' first='Brock' last='Cashin'] Cactus Shadows

A freshman wing was playing up in the junior varsity game. He can score with euro steps to the basket, fall aways from 8-feet and he is aggressive to the rim. He is competitive on defense to rebound and he will defend multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2677607' first='Tanner' last='Ivory'] AZ College Prep

A long wing with a good feel for the game who sees the court well. He has a pure stroke off the catch from the three point line and he is a strong two-handed rebounder in his area. He plays a smart game and comes with skill.

[player_tooltip player_id='2149103' first='Kevin' last='Kuang'] AZ College Prep

A scoring lead guard poured in 20 points. He scored with pull-ups off the dribble from mid-range, threes off the catch and off the dribble. He will score with transition layups and he is a good passer to drop it off to a teammate in stride or pass it up ahead or drive and kick it. He changes speeds well to get to the basket.

Varsity Game (66-62 ACP won)

[player_tooltip player_id='1875407' first='Zach' last='Cutler'] AZ College Prep

A cerebral wing forward who is very skilled. He will grab rebounds out of his area and score with reverse layups with good footwork. He can score with mid-range fall-aways off the dribble and will hit the catch three. He rebounds well and he is a good passer. He scored 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986808' first='Asher' last='Perez'] AZ College Prep

The senior guard scored a team high 20 points with drive by's in traffic, contested layups, runners and threes off the catch and off the dribble. He handles a lot of the lead role duties and sees the court well to facilitate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2677594' first='Chase' last='Kintner'] AZ College Prep

A sharp shooting scoring guard is a catch and shoot three point specialist type. He also has a nice floater game and he is cerebral and skilled. He scored 16 points with 3 threes made and he can get himself to the free throw line for some free points with a sneaky burst to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2507244' first='Aidan' last='Riesen'] AZ College Prep

A scoring guard showed out in this game. He has deep three point range and shoots it off the catch with good form and high confidence. He is a good rebounder and will score with put backs and plays with some toughness. He scored 13 points with 3 threes made.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150846' first='Trey' last='Chemin'] Cactus Shadows

Their big man was a problem all game long. He scored 24 points with high level dunks, in-traffic takes, offensive rebound put backs, mid-range jumpers from 17-feet and threes. He blocks shots and makes multiple good passes every game. He had a great game and the defense literally at one point had three on him. Embry-Riddle flat out got a steal.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133646' first='Myles' last='Godfrey'] Cactus Shadows

A pure point guard with a high feel to make plays with a shifty and tight handle. His drive and kick passes are one of the best in the class. His pace is very high and he can crossover into a pull-up, score with floaters, catch threes and he rebounds well for position. His effort on defense stood out with steals, deflections and rebounds. He scored 14 points with 5+ assists and steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2623495' first='Riley' last='Haggerty'] Cactus Shadows

A newcomer for me is highly skilled and can hit the three off the catch. He made a couple key threes to keep the game close and he will defend and collect steals and rebound. He may become a specialist for them in the next year or so.

[player_tooltip player_id='2136401' first='Gavin' last='Lewis'] Cactus Shadows

A tough scoring point guard has a nice floater game and can use a spin move to score into a fall away jumper from mid-range. He is tough to rebound and has quick hands and feet to collect steals and get deflections. He is one of their many non-seniors who will have an even bigger role next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2331638' first='Luwin' last='Lazo'] Cactus Shadows

A thicker power forward who has really good hands and post footwork inside the paint. He is cerebral and makes smart reads. His role will be expanded next year when the 2025 class graduates.

[player_tooltip player_id='2331641' first='Jackson' last='Kragel'] Cactus Shadows

A wing forward grew about an inch in the last year. He is highly skilled and can hit the three off catch from the three point line. The lefty can ball fake in the paint and go up to score. He is tough to rebound and take charges.
