The opening weekend of Garden State basketball is almost here, meaning the season is about to get into the full swing. The 2027 class might have only played one varsity season, but they are primed to make an impact on the hardwood. Here are the 2027 Non-Public B guards to watch this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2201951' first='Jacob' last='Canton'], 6'2 PG Rutgers Prep

Canton poured in over 400 points in his first high school season and should have an even bigger sophomore season. The 6'2 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he elevates for dunks and can finish through contact. Canton is more than just a slasher as he has a good release on his jumper and wastes little motion. He finds his open teammates in the halfcourt and slides his feet on the defensive end. Canton is a talented guard prospect who should put up big numbers throughout the course of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2202020' first='Avery' last='Lynch'], 6'6 SG St. Rose

Lynch made big plays down the stretch for the Purple Roses and is looking to have an even bigger impact in 2024-25. The 6'6 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Lynch moves well without the ball in his hands and finishes nicely around the basket. He has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor and is an underrated rebounder. Lynch had a big spring and summer and should carry it over into a big sophomore campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='2201961' first='Vasuan' last='Harper'], 6'1 CG Immaculate Conception

Harper is primed for a breakout season as he will get more touches on the offensive end. The 6'1 guard has a quick handle, which he uses to blow by his defender and finishes in a variety of ways around the rim. Harper can also score in the mid-range and sets his feet before he shoots. He is an underrated passer and gets deflections on the defensive end. Harper is a dynamic guard prospect who will be one of the top guard prospects in Essex County this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2344526' first='MJ' last='Jarrell'], 6'4 CG Morristown-Beard

Jarrell had an electric freshman season as he poured in nearly 400 points. The 6'2 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he finishes strong around the basket and is unafraid of drawing contact. Jarrell sets his feet before he shoots and makes opponents pay for giving him space behind the arc. He has the ability to play off the ball as well and plays with good anticipation on the defensive end. Jarrell had a pair of 30-point games last season and is looking to eclipse that mark in 2024-25.

[player_tooltip player_id='2344528' first='Jamal' last='Dixon'], 6'0 CG Gill St. Bernard's

Dixon is slated to get more touches for the Knights this season, which will help his development in a big way. The 6'0 guard has a good first step, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the basket. Dixon rarely forces shots in the halfcourt and finds his open teammates in the halfcourt. He works hard on the defensive end and can play on the ball at times. Dixon is a gritty guard prospect who should make plays for Gill St. Bernard's during the course of the season.

Other Prospects to Track:

[player_tooltip player_id='2202018' first='Rocco' last='Loomis'], 5'10 PG Rutgers Prep

[player_tooltip player_id='2504905' first='Gary' last='Jennings'], 5'10 PG Princeton Day

[player_tooltip player_id='2465081' first='Andrew' last='Mardahaev'], 6'1 SG Ranney

[player_tooltip player_id='2202017' first='Ty' last='Reaves'], 5'6 PG St. Mary's Rutherford

[player_tooltip player_id='2628249' first='Chase' last='Spencer'], 6'0 CG/SG Saddle River Day
