Over the next few weeks I will be presenting the top 200 players in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin, based on their collegiate potential. I selected the following conferences to be representative of the Driftless Region: Big Rivers, Cloverbelt-West, Coulee, Dairyland, Dunn-St. Croix, Lakeland-West, Middle Border, Mississippi Valley, Ridge & Valley, Scenic Bluffs, Six Rivers-West, South Central, Southwest Wisconsin and Southwest Wisconsin Activities League. These conferences encapsulate 107 schools and roughly 1300 varsity basketball players.

As you review, understand that Prep Hoops rankings prioritize a player's potential to succeed at the next level, focusing on athleticism, size, position-specific skills, game IQ, effort, toughness, and intangibles like body language. Scouts may weigh each factor slightly differently, but size and athleticism are critical. While high school performance and statistics certainly factor in, they alone don't determine a player's ranking; instead, we assess skillset alongside athletic ability and body type that could translate to college competition. This approach explains why some high school stars may not rank as high as others who show the physical tools for college play. You can read more on how we rank, here.

It's also important to note that rankings are not permanent. Players who have breakout seasons will rise in the Prep Hoops rankings. There are absolutely players on this list who didn't have opportunities for extended playing time due to strong rosters last season, with now-graduated standout seniors. Conversely, some players may have had an exceptional season last year and will need to grind to match that in the coming season in a conference where the competition has become more difficult, for example.

You will also notice that the Driftless 200 is presented in groups. The nuance between player 125 and 150 in a ranking is likely reasonably small. For that reason, I did not specify a ranking number. In this grouping, the players are presented by conference and then alphabetically by school and last name. As I move towards the top of the Driftless 200, the groupings will become smaller and the details on each player will be expanded.
