During the busy weekend of November 7-9, we took a trip to the RCS Season Opener taking place at Mo Campbell Center on Saturday afternoon. There were many top teams and prospects in attendance looking to start off the season on the right path with a victory, and many hoopers either made their name known or increased their stock. Thank you to Doug Jones and Jim Hicks for having Prep Hoops Texas out to the tourney and always putting on a spectacular tournament. Let's examine some possibly underrated performers and some names we might be familiar with.

[player_tooltip player_id='2222515' first='Quinton' last='Sanders'] put on a scoring clinic in Wheatley's victory over PA Memorial during Saturday afternoon prime time. Quinton ended the contest with 34 pts and added 5 assists and 8 rebounds as well, showing that he doesn't just impact the game based on scoring alone. A dynamic guard who has the ability to excel as either a bucket getter or a facilitator, Sanders will continue to impact Wheatley's scoring numbers as the season continues on if he is able to put up these numbers consistently.

[player_tooltip player_id='2888958' first='Austin' last='Stewart'] was a big reason why Beaumont Westbrook came out on top in a matchup against the Seven Lakes Spartans last weekend. What impressed me the most about Stewart was his second half play where he was helping to control the glass against top Houston prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2252157' first='Isaiah' last='Santos'] and coming away with clutch blocks and rebounds. Austin had 9 pts in the contest and 12 rebounds, coming up just short of a double-double, but he definitely made his name known if he wasn't already.

2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2138028' first='Tyson' last='Forrest'] was very effective running the point guard slot for the Woodlands College Park squad on Saturday against a deep Atascocita Eagles team. Forrest makes sound decisions when he is facilitating for his team and is effective off the pick and roll as the ballhandler, always knowing how to set up teammates for easy buckets or dribble back out and reset the offense. Tyson had 14 pts and 7 assists in the close loss and controlled the momentum at times favoring the Cavaliers. He holds a lot of potential as he is only a sophomore this season and is already showing signs of improvement from last year as he continues to raise his stock going into 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='2389267' first='David' last='Clayton'] is a quick and shifty guard who helped CE King in their game against the Bellaire Cardinals last Saturday afternoon. "DC", as they call him, was heavily involved in the offensive scheme for the Panthers and he hit several clutch threes off the dribble as well as driving to the basket and either drawing contact or dishing out to another open shooter. He came away with 13 pts in this game and his perimeter defense was also underrated as he helped keep [player_tooltip player_id='1514254' first='Kohlman' last='Dutton'] in check. Keep an eye on DC and this CE King team as they compete for a district title and expect the backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='1226457' first='Eric' last='Lavergne'] and DC to make some noise this year.

2025 big man [player_tooltip player_id='2430373' first='Chazz' last='Dubois'] had a hot start to the Summer Creek/Nimitz nightcap game on Saturday and helped the Bulldogs to get off to an immediate big lead in the first quarter. Chazz showed aggressiveness and physicality controlling the boards on both sides of the ball as well as running his lane in transition on fastbreaks and scoring easy buckets at the rim. He came away with a double-double this contest, commandeering 15 pts and 16 rebounds. This was the best game I have ever seen from Dubois, and he looked like a completely different animal than last year. Here's to hoping he continues more of this aggressive mindset and helps the Bulldogs to the top of district this year.
