We rank the sections from one through eight as we are two days away from the state of games!

One. 5AA. The depth of this league is just stronger than the other sections. It comes metro schools with schools in that northwest metro and then teams just outside of the Metro in the northwest area. With Breck as the defending champs and a top contender, you have Blake, North, MCA and Holy Family as usual good teams and now Southwest Christian is on the rise as a top five team.

Two. 1AA. When it comes to that group of teams just under the top 10/15 in the state, Section 1AA usually has a big chunk of them. There is a lot of talent in that area just outside of Rochester and Winona/La Crosse and that is why this section is second. Caledonia and Lake City will headline but teams like Cannon Falls, La Crescent and many others are always good.

Three. 3AA. I can't pretend to know how bad the [player_tooltip player_id='1601069' first='Roman' last='Voss'] injury is but whenever he comes back (assuming he does, again I don't know the injury) JCC will be right in the mix. Redwood Valley and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta are top ten level teams and Montevideo could be as well. Good group.

Four. 6AA. Albany is the big name here with Annandale right on their heels. At the top, this is the best pair a section has. What about the depth of the group? Mora could be top ten but they struggled last year, Legacy is solid and Sauk Centre could still be solid as well.

Five. 2AA. So many teams are going through change in this group but I do really like Waseca and Belle Plaine. GSL and NYA should be solid and watch for Maple River on the come up.

Six. 7AA. Some of your traditional names here are going through line-up changes and while there should be improved teams at Greenway and Staples-Motley, I am not sure if they are ready to be contenders to this Pequot Lakes run yet.

Seven. 8AA. This is the only section that does not have a top 15 team in the state but Pelican Rapids is very close. Park Rapids should be solid as well and watch for Roseau.

Eight. 4AA. This is the depth of the league that gets them last. Minnehaha Academy went to state last year with a losing record! The Redhawks will be better this year for sure and St. Croix Lutheran behind the will be good, but the depth of the section is the weakest in the state.
