College Basketball Opening Day: The Minnesota Class of 2024
How did the Minnesota Class of 2024 do on opening day of college basketball in their first games? We do our first run through of the season, now!
Usually it's best to look at this around the Christmas holiday and around Valentine's Day, but before we get there we need to set up a starting point. And what better of a starting point than college basketball's opening day holiday! Here's how things are starting for Minnesota's 2024 class to start their year (quick note, many D2 schools will not play until Friday):
Jackson McAndrew at Creighton. Creighton opens tomorrow but Jackson was the Bluejay 6th man playing 15 minutes scoring eight points (2 3s) with five boards in the exhibition win over Purdue.
Isaac Asuma at Minnesota. Isaac and the Gophers open tomorrow but Isaac had eight points and eight assists in the exhibition against Bemidji State. Asuma looks to be Minnesota's 8th man right now.
Isaiah Johnson at Miami. Johnson was the 11th/12th player into the game for the Canes last night. He had a rebound in three minutes in a blowout. Seems to be a deep bench player starting the season.
Daniel Freitag at Wisconsin. Daniel was Wisconsin's 11th/12th player into the game for the Badgers last night playing two minutes. He looks to be the third Badger PG right now (Badgers playing a combo at PG to start before giving way to McGee).
Casmir Chavis at Arkansas. Arkansas plays their first game Wednesday. Cash played one minute in the exhibition with Kansas as the 9th man, did not play in the exhibition against TCU. Seems to be the 9th man to start the season.
Jack Robison at Wisconsin. Jack came in with a group of deep bench players to play one minute. They all came in after a dozen other Badgers have played.
Grayson Grove at Minnesota. Grove had four points and four rebounds in the Hamline exhibition. Grove looks to be the Gophers 9th/10th man right now as Minnesota deals with some early injuries.
Kyle Jorgensen at Colorado State. Kyle looks like he will forever be that player that I under ranked and never ranked high enough. Kyle had nine points and seven boards against UND in the season opener making 4 of 7 shots in 18 minutes.
Jonathan Mekonnen at Colordo State. Jonathan was not one of the 11 that played last night for the Rams.
Andy Stefonowicz at NDSU. Andy had five points and six assists in 25 minutes in the NDSU win over Jamestown.
Chiang Ring at Murray State. Played five minutes in Murray State's 76 point win - yes it was 113 to 37 - and had a basket, a steal and a board. Looks to be Murray State's 11th man starting the season.
Kole Hanson at UMD. Kole played 11 minutes in the Bulldog Sunday exhibition scoring five points with an assist. Hanson was 7th/8th man when related to minutes.
Jalen Langsy at Northwestern (IA). Jalen started for his team and scored THIRTY POINTS in his first game. He made 11 of 17 shots including five threes scoring 30 in 24 minutes in his team's 65 point win over Tabor.
Ryan Johnson at CSP. Ryan played two minutes at Wyoming last night and had an assist, and a board. Came in with two others in that 11th-12th-13th man area. Also on that team from this class is Owen Waldoch who didn't play.
Greyson Uelmen at North Dakota. Greyson was not one of the 11 that played for UND last night.
Jackson Fowlkes at UMD. Played three minutes, took three shots and missed them. Played along with Jaden Morgan and

(also members of this class) in that third unit that all played three minutes.
Gavin Pendergast at Long Island. Pendergast played in the final two minutes in a 30 point loss. It appears that Gavin was the 11th man into the game for his team. Gavin recorded a steal.
Carson Schweim at Minnesota State Mankato. Carson was the 7th/8th man for Mankato scoring a team high 13 points with five boards at Kentucky! Carson, as a freshman, hit three triples against UK! Carson then scored six points on two threes against Florida Southern.
Kevin Armstrong at Cal. Kevin was not one of the 11 that played last night against CSU Bakersfield.
