Stewart just came off a big football season where he had over 90 tackles and 13 sacks as a Defensive End for the Yellow Jackets. Chris has a great frame and still seems to be picking up the basketball game in some respects.

[player_tooltip player_id='2628924' first='Vincent' last='Rhue'] a senior joined in and finished with 9 points. Rhue was in the right place to make a play today. He scored a few cheapies while in transition by leaking out at times.

Goose Creek HS 52 Conway HS 46

The matchup was a rematch from the 2023 Lower State Championship in Florence which Goose Creek HS won. The Gators were led by the strong guard play of [player_tooltip player_id='1172573' first='Ja'Quell' last='Brown'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1336825' first='Shane' last='Potts']. Brown was finishing buckets at the rim all day long and especially from the left side. JaQuell really excels in the transition game and getting to the bucket. He does a good job of stalking the baseline with quick 1st step. He turns the corner well coming around screens and races to the bucket.

Brown finished with 22 points, 5 assists and 3 steals in the Gators win today.

Potts dropped 20 points in the hard-fought win today. Shane was able to connect on some three-pointers (4-8) while collecting 7 rebounds in the Gators win today. He plays the game at a very nice pace and even keel while on the floor. Shane was able to showcase good body control at times while getting to the bucket.

The Tigers playing without junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1824185' first='Jordan' last='Jenkins'] were in this game all night long. Senior post player [player_tooltip player_id='1032756' first='Javion' last='Crawford'] finished with 14 points playing around the paint all game long. Crawford is at his best when he keeps the ball off the deck and finishes around the bucket. He played out on top on defense tonight in the front of the zone with his length. Javion has soft hands to finish around the bucket.

Senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2044349' first='Trevon' last='Johnson'] was showing some shiftiness with his ball-handling skills and touching the paint at will tonight. Johnson finished with 12 points in the loss. Trevon really likes to get into the gaps with his play. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2638727' first='Kayleb' last='McKinnon'] finished with 9 points. McKinnon was able to slash to the bucket and knockdown a couple three-pointers early in the contest.

North Charleston HS 59 Bethune Bowman HS 49

The host Cougars will face Goose Creek HS tonight in the final game of the Battle in the North. The Cougars first had to get by Class 1A program Bethune-Bowman HS Mohawks. North Charleston was led in scoring by junior [player_tooltip player_id='1578646' first='Marco' last='Simpson'] with 18 points. Simpson with a very unorthodox shot with a low shot release connected on 3 from downtown. [player_tooltip player_id='1370647' first='Marcus' last='Simmons'] added 10 points in the win. The Cougars moved to (1-1) on the season.

The Mohawks battled back after being down 39-20 with 2:40 left in the 3rd quarter. Bethune-Bowman HS were led by the duo of [player_tooltip player_id='2211022' first='Bryson' last='Robinson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2211021' first='Terrance' last='McFadden'] who both scored 15 points apiece. Robinson was able to score around the bucket at times tonight while McFadden with his nimble footwork and soft hands did the same.

Senior point guard Kaden Woods finished with 7 points. Woods a lefty played at a good pace all night long and poise on the floor. Kaden is a pass first point guard who understands on how to make reads and use ball screens well.

The Mohawks will be fine this season playing in Class 1A. The Mohawks will conclude the tourney today and play Conway HS at Noon.
