Prep Hoops Dakotas is continuing on with coverage on The Expo: South Dakota. I thought there were some things to take away from the event. Including that was some new names that I hadn't seen yet play or had little information on. We have five new names that will be added to the database and rankings.

Mercer was one that stood out before the games began. An athletic and long wing at 6'5”. He's a transfer from Douglas to his new school, AA Sioux Falls Jefferson. A lanky build that college programs would love to get into their strength & conditioning program for development. He has a skilled and smooth game as well. I thought he was active on the court on both ends and got into the mess by the hoop and competed. Crashed the O-boards, looking for put-backs at the hoop. His role will be interesting from the get-go, because Jefferson has talent on the perimeter. But Chapman screams next-level upside. Just needs to get stronger and tighten up his skills when he sees defensive resistance.

Sami is a big-body guard that shot the three at a high level at The Expo. He also was penetrating and kicking when the defense took away the three. Has some shake to his offensive game and ability with the ball. I thought Sami competed and was really looking to prove he can play with the best ballers in South Dakota. He showed swag and confidence out there.

Gavin was a hard-working, energy guy that didn't need the ball to impact the game. He ran the floor hard every time and moved without the ball in the half court. Boxed-out and was putting his nose in the action to come up with the ball for his team. He showed a straightforward offensive game that was more set on results rather than putting on a show. Cut to the hoop to catch and finish, and was finishing efficiently in lane. An underrated jumper and ability to put the ball in the hoop.

Gayetaye is a short, quick and explosive guard. He came to play and wasn't scared of the competition. He distributed well and was setting teammates up for buckets. He had a really nice handle on the ball to go along with his quick first steps. He was looking to penetrate and get into the lane and make some sort of play. He made the defense guard. He often got deep into the lane with his dribble. He was routinely finding [player_tooltip player_id='2623208' first='Nick' last='Hanson'] for scores. George also showed he can hit an open three. Gayetaye really showed-out at The Expo as a ball-handler creator, setup man, and scorer and shooter.

The lefty guard/wing has a solid frame and showed a consistent motor, getting down the court and crashing boards as well. He showed a different approach to The Expo by not trying to overuse the basketball and dominant possession of the ball. He would secure the ball and look to push the ball up via quick pass. He drove and kicked to wide open shooters.
