He has been a starter for the Red Raiders since his 9th-grade year. He has a high basketball IQ, which helps with his decision-making. Tye can get to the bucket at will and has a great touch around the rim. His vertical is impressive and helps him to be a great finisher in traffic. He also shoots the trey ball well. Tye has scored over 1,000 points in his career and had a career-high in points last season with a 40-piece. As a junior, he finished the season averaging just over 19pts per game and was voted by his teammates as a team captain. He plays excellent on-ball and off-ball defense. He is crafty at passing and shooting the ball. Philip has been a starter since his sophomore year, and his experience has been a great asset; the coaching staff is looking for Philip to continue to develop and grow into one of the top scorers on the team. He is one of the most consistent shooters on the team. He can knock down open shots and is crafty enough to take a player off the dribble and hit either a mid-range jumper or finish at the rim. Defensively, he is a DOG! He plays defense the right way and is one of the best defenders on the court at any given time. In his sophomore season, he won the free throw and sixth man awards. He came off the bench last year and provided the offensive spark teams look for in a 6th man. Samuel also had a very good summer and will look to carry his production over into the season. He has improved his shooting ability from behind the arc, as well as handling the ball overall and against handling against ball pressure. Defensively, he has improved as an on-ball defender. He takes pride in getting stops and helping his team in rebounding. He is a returning player from last year's team and will look to build on his game to bring a level of toughness on the inside. He provides a spark defensively, as he is fast and plays really good defense. He is hungry, eager to learn, and works at his game year-round. He is willing to do whatever he needs for the team and constantly seeks ways to develop his game. He is as good a shooter as the Red Raiders have. He will be a significant asset this season, and Coach Fox is excited to see how he grows physically, mentally, and as a player as he makes the leap to varsity.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em>Style of Play</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size">The Red Raiders are going to look to play fast and to press. Coach Fox is confident that his guys believe in what they do and will try to keep the defensive pressure up at all times. The Red Raider's philosophy is simple: Be 1-0. Every rep, every practice, every game. If they can strive to be 1-0, that means that they win that rep, that practice, and that game, and ultimately win that day. Coach Fox wants his guys to be the best they can be for the guy beside them and represent the team, school, and community in a positive way.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em>What Will It Take for The Red Raiders To Win State?</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size">Coach Fox understands that he has a lot of new faces and several returning players that he will have to lean on in order to make a run this season. Returning players not mentioned above are Dawson Frost and Gavin Williams, both of whom will be key pieces for the Red Raiders. They both know the system and will help guide the team in the right direction. New players on the team are Ty Hollis, Sam Williams, Omarion Smith, Kendle Clark, and Hayden Parish. These players had a great summer, and the coaching staff is excited to see what each player brings to the team. Coach Fox believes that for his team to make a run this season, they will have to lock in on defense and share the ball offensively.
