LAS VEGAS — The Border League has established itself as the premier fall high school/prep school basketball event on the west coast and the 2024 edition was no different. The event features many of the top high school and prep school prospects from around the country in a high level hoops showcase. We were in attendance at Coronado high school for the final three games of the opening night and below are the top guard performers in those games from California and beyond.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131779' first='Brandon' last='McCoy'], Jr. | 2026 | St. John Bosco

McCoy had his elite combination of shot-making, playmaking and downright freakishly athletic offensive and defensive impact on full display in a three-point win over Overtime Elite. The highly-ranked 6-foot-4 junior used his shiftiness and explosiveness off the bounce to get to the rim and finish through contact but he also flashed the space creation in to his jump shot that makes him such a tough player to guard. McCoy has a lot of polish to his offensive skill-set, especially as a secondary slasher/attacker off the wing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630620' first='Elzie' last='Harrington'] | 2025 | St. John Bosco

The Harvard-commit has the uncanny ability to take over a game offensively and defensively while also possessing the basketball IQ to recognize time and score situations when his team is leading down the stretch. In Bosco's win over Overtime Elite, Harrington sparked early offensive runs with steals and transition dunks, off-dribble jumpers and heady passes to his other talented teammates in half-court offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1176298' first='Jalin' last='Holland'] | 2025 | Dream City Christian (AZ)

Holland's strong frame, willingness to be physical on both ends of the floor and cerebral approach to the combo guard spot makes him a seamless fit for Tad Boyle and Colorado. The 6-foot-4 senior, originally from New Mexico, commands his team, and the game, from a leadership and toughness standpoint that you don't often see from high school guards at this level. Holland is a steady decision-maker whose combination of strength and athleticism allows him to get to the rim and finish through contact.

Mason Abittan | 2025 | Coronado (NV)

Abittan is certainly one of the biggest stock-raising guards out west over the last six months and it is due to his elite perimeter jump shot and emerging ball skills and creativity off the bounce. Abittan is a consistent catch and shoot threat with fluid shooting mechanics and a great base complete with strength and balance. Off the dribble, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard has quick pull-up ability, but can also create space with step-backs or pivots and fades off of a two-foot jump stop.

Parker Robinson | 2026 | Overtime Elite

When Overtime Elite was down big early in a matchup against St. John Bosco, Robinson was the guy who could be heard on the floor communicating with teammates in trying to settle them in. Basketball-wise, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard is an elite floor stretching guard off the catch from multiple spots of the floor. He makes smart and timely movements without the ball, is always shot-ready when teammates drive and has a confident and quick trigger on his jumper.
