PICTURED: [player_tooltip player_id='1259392' first='Jeremy' last='Jackson Jr.']

In August, we updated the 2025 player rankings. In this feature, the fourth of the positional breakdown series, the focus is shooting guards.

The Committed

[player_tooltip player_id='1259392' first='Jeremy' last='Jackson Jr.'] (Columbia Academy / Team Mookie) verbally committed to Trevecca Nazarene University. You can read more about him here.

[player_tooltip player_id='1211987' first='Cade' last='Capps'] (Stone Memorial / STARZ) stunned rival coaches across Tennessee when he verbally committed to Trevecca Nazarene. At the time Capps was the #1 college prospect in Tennessee, and it was rightfully seen as a gigantic recruiting win for the Trojans under Head Coach Kevin Carroll. He pushed Stone Memorial into the State Tournament as a freshman and currently sits on 2120 career points!

[player_tooltip player_id='1549166' first='Collin' last='O'Neal'] (M.B.A. / Team Mookie) verbally committed to Furman University. O'Neal's summer with Team Mookie 17u vaulted him into the Top 20. Now perched at #9.

[player_tooltip player_id='2539839' first='Reese' last='Frazier'] (McMinn County) selected Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

[player_tooltip player_id='1526361' first='Joshua' last='Spining'] (Page) verbally committed to Sewanee - The University of the South. It resides in Franklin County, Tennessee.

All five of these guys are likely to sign the paperwork in November.

Greyson Burleson (Loretto baseball) will play college baseball for juggernaut Vanderbilt University.

Springy

[player_tooltip player_id='2237638' first='Dyson' last='Elam'] (Blackman) is an easy riser. A year ago, he landed on the PrepHoopsTN Combine All-Star Team from the October 2023 event.

Smooth. Dyson defends multiple positions effectively. He gets up so smoothly. Quick. Elam's Lane Agility was among the best of the day (11.15 seconds). Elam will be a college wing, no doubt. Though he looks to be a scorer in pockets, Elam generally played very supportive, perhaps even too deferential Sunday. Unselfishness is uncommon at showcase events. Dyson showed very few true weaknesses. He needs to add heft, “good weight”. Other than that Elam is a trustworthy, athletic player with a promising future.

Smooth.
