August 19th-20th Cedric Cobb Sr and I had the 7th annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ. 120 players from a few states came to gain exposure in front of college coaches and scouts plus compete versus some top end players over the two days.

Each player competed in 5 games for the two days plus 60 competed in an extra All-Star Game. (Top-20, Top-40 and a Non-Senior All-Star Game)

We take a look at 8 Stock Risers from this years camp

Soph Stock Risers

[player_tooltip player_id='2396138' first='Rashad' last='Ortiz'] Palo Verde (Pictured)

A young sophomore seems to have found his stride. He is growing a little and I don't think he is done either. He can score, make plays plus defend. His athleticism is clearly coming in and looks to be a top-5 Tucson product in his class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146241' first='Creighton' last='Wirth'] Campo Verde

The son of a former coach seems to always be in the right spot in every game you watch him play. The lefty has such an easy stroke from the three point line and will rattle them off off the pull or catch. He will also facilitate and score.

[player_tooltip player_id='2337274' first='Brig' last='Bowden'] Mesa

The big sophomore is a load to deal with. He got a little taller since last year and is he is trending the right way. His skill, strength, next level hands and IQ for the game will translate this year and the coming years in the AIA.

Junior Stock Risers

[player_tooltip player_id='1875718' first='Melvin' last='Stubbs Jr'] Catalina Foothills

The #1 breakout player possibly of the summer was Stubbs Jr. He seamlessly plays three positions on or off the ball. He is a rare player that can score only 6-10 points and affect the game in so many ways. He defends nearly every position, blocks shots, rebounds, will make players around him better and still score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956215' first='Wyatt' last='Koenig'] Premier Prep

The rising junior is a true late bloomer who has grown a little but is polishing up his skill and getting stronger and tougher in the last year. He can work inside to score around the basket but will also step out to shoot it.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986845' first='Mason' last='Kendrick'] Arcadia

A player who registered last was a bit unknown, but by the end of the two days, I had scouts and coaches asking me what his name was and where he went to HS. He plays hard on both sides of the court and is fearless. He scores from all levels and he does not back down. In back to back possessions, he got dunked on by the top athlete in the camp, and on the next play he hit a three in his face. This athlete just hoops!

Senior Stock Risers

[player_tooltip player_id='1950665' first='Hyrum' last='Donaldson'] Cibola

The biggest man in the camp turned some heads. He had a good showing at Section-7 and followed it up with a strong showing in one of the All-Star Games and garnered heavy attention from college coaches and scouts with his shot blocking, easy dunks, scoring around the basket and cleaning the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='1540144' first='Quintin' last='Ragland'] Premier Prep

A tough true two-way shooting guard is a fox hole type of athlete. He will play hard throughout the entire game and he will defend multiple positions with his strong hands, upper body strength and quicker feet. He is improving his perimeter shooting and will still take it strong to the basket.
