Ortiz was arguable the biggest 2027 stock riser not only in Southern Arizona but in the state. Ortiz is one of the more athletic guards in the state regardless of class. Ortiz received the following honors this season: 3A Conference First Team, 3A South Region First Team and was selected as the MVP in the 3A State Championship Game where he led Palo Verde to the first state title in school history. He averaged 19.6 points, 1.4 assists, 4 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Ortiz was lights out from beyond the arc this season shooting 87/182 (48%) and finished the season with 567 points. Ortiz will hit his 1000 career points mark early in the upcoming season as he is already at 945 career points. Expect a lot of momentum to build in his recruitment this off-season.

At this point in the season Ortiz is looking like the favorite to win the 3A South Player of the Year. Ortiz is averaging 20.6 points per game and has been shooting light out this season. He currently has 69 three pointers on the season with 53 percent made. That is the best perimeter percentage than anyone in the top 10 for threes made in the state. He’s a very disruptive defender who guards the length of the court effectively and averages 2.2 steals per game. Ortiz is a true three level scorer with gifted athletic ability. Highly impactful player who is leading Palo Verde to one of their best seasons in history.

Ortiz continues to elevate himself as one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2027 class. Hes a high percentage scorer (shooting 54 percent from the field and 55 percent from the perimeter and averaging 21.5 ppg) He knocked down an early three and then later had one of the top dunks on his defender that I’ve seen this year. He has a smooth and consistent shot. Uses his athleticism to his advantage on the defensive side getting steals and intercepting passes. Elevates high for his jump shot. Plays at a high level every possession. Passionate player who impacts the game in all areas. A prospect coaches need to start looking at.

Ortiz is quickly rising as a top guard in the 2027 class. One of my top breakout players this season. Ortiz is currently averaging 20.8 points per game and is showing to be one of the best shooters in Southern AZ. He is currently 53 percent from the perimeter ( 40/76) and shooting 53 percent from the field as well. He has three games scoring 30+ including a season high 38 points against Apache Junction. A three level scoring threat who can finish with some highlight dunks. Ortiz is currently making a strong case for the 3A South Player of the Year.

True three level scoring threat who torched the Colts in the first half. Ortiz knocked down four from beyond the arc finishing the half with 16 points. One of the more athletic players in Southern Arizona elevates high for rebounds and quickly advances the ball up court.Lengthy defender and shot blocker. Very disruptive in the passing lanes. In the second half Ortiz sparked a run with a two handed dunk and then a deep three on the following possession to cut the lead to one. Then made the assist on the following play to retake the lead.

Extremely athletic. Shot blocker. Has a very smooth shot elevates high for it. Shoots quick and smooth from the corner three off the catch. Really nice form shooting the ball. High IQ defender with great footwork to go along with it. Will sit and read passes then pick them off. His athleticism allows him to rebound well. Shot very well from mid range.

Ortiz continues to impress. From each showing his development takes leaps. He gets more athletic, stronger and his shot gets better. One of the top mid- long range shooters in attendance. A true three level scorer. Ortiz was one of the top overall performers who did it all on both sides of the ball. Ortiz’s ceiling his high. I expect him to start getting college attention this year and for his recruitment to really take off his graduating year (2027).
