So Call Fall Prep Classic Part II Standouts

PH NorCal was at the SoCal Fall Preview in Orange, Ca. The Campus of Santiago Community College. We were there to see NorCal but a few prospects from Utah caught our attention with their play. We have mixed evaluations in this write up to include Utah, and NorCal Standouts.    He's a 6'3 point guard with a crafty set of skills for the position. He uses his body dribbling to get to where he wants to go. Arms, and shoulders to shield, and fend off defenders while making moves going left or right to the basket. He sees the whole court to deliver assists, including lobs, and long passes up. He stops on the dime for mid-range jumpers. He'll drop 3's in the crunch.     He's standing 6'5, can play multiple positions, he contributes in different ways. He shoots the 3 ball pretty well coming down in transition or spotting up along the perimeter. He works the boards on both ends. He was able to dribble his way in from different areas, including baseline and transition layups, he can score inside. He helped out on the boards, had a couple of chase down blocks.     He's long with a good set of fundamentals, and balance for a 6'9 post player who can handle a bit, he did some handling up top. He has a hard to block shot inside making sure to keep the ball up high with finishes around the rim, he anticipates lobs coming his way. He has long strides up court finishing with transition dunks. He positions himself to block and change shots.     Johnson had a fantastic weekend of basketball. The 6'4 guard showed off his playmaking abilities with ball in hand. He controlled pace at times, running half-court sets finding mates with excellent passing, around the perimeter, and to cutters. He used his slick handles, and moves to create buckets regularly. Drives, spin moves, mid-range jumpers, 3ptrs. He opened more eyes at this event.     The 6'5 guard did it all this weekend. He's one of the top prospects from the Sacramento Area. He was consistent in the scoring department using a series of crossover dribbles, decisive moves, and body to get his paint points. He knocked down 3's at a good percentage. Standing 6'5 he's an excellent facilitator with court vision, and passing in transition. He battled for rebounds in the paint.     Going forward he's going to attract the other teams top defender. Nishikawa has hard dribbles, and a solid body he uses every time he goes to the basket. He's got good hang time, and attacks from different areas. He used his hard hard dribbles along the baseline, planting two feet, then powered up drawing contact and converting. He hits the paint jumper with lift, knocks down long 3's from the top and other areas. He handles ball pressure. Looks to take and make the big shots.
