The month of September is here. While we are a week away from Classes B & C beginning practice, Louisiana is still in showcase mode. Prep Hoops had three amazing showcases with some of the best young talent from across the state. We reviewed the Freshman Showcase. Now, we will highlight the Sophomore ID Camp. The "All Sophomore ID Camp" team are some of the top tier talents we have in Louisiana. So, to kick off September, we will highlight the best of the best on the All Sophomore ID Camp Team.

First Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2132750' first='Jakobe' last='Dantzler'] (6'0" | Archbishop Hannan)

[player_tooltip player_id='2471554' first='Elijah' last='Garner'] (6'3" | Madison Prep)

Brycen Jones (6'4" | Vicksburg)

[player_tooltip player_id='2421312' first='Devin' last='Lavalais'] (6'1" | Marksville)

[player_tooltip player_id='2532365' first='Carlos' last='Levingston Jr'] (St. Michael)

[player_tooltip player_id='2132729' first='Austin' last='Turner'] (6'3" | Huntington) - pictured above

The first team set the tone for the day. [player_tooltip player_id='2421312' first='Devin' last='Lavalais'] was the best all-around player at the camp. From offense to defense, rebounding to scoring, he did it all in Baton Rouge. Brycen Jones had coaches wishing he lived in Louisiana. The Mississippi wing can score, defend several positions, and rebound like power forward. [player_tooltip player_id='2132750' first='Jakobe' last='Dantzler'] was flat out the best point guard. He awareness of knowing when to score. when to pass, and when to push showed a high IQ mixed with great ability. [player_tooltip player_id='2532365' first='Carlos' last='Levingston Jr'] attacked the rim with aggression. He was excellent in transition as well. [player_tooltip player_id='2132729' first='Austin' last='Turner'] may end up being one of the best players in the state when it is all over. His skill set is expansive and allowed him to do multiple things well. [player_tooltip player_id='2471554' first='Elijah' last='Garner'] is an offensive machine. His ability to score in various ways sets him apart.

Second Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2529000' first='Tyler' last='Brazier'] (5'8" | Catholic)

[player_tooltip player_id='1975865' first='Zaveon' last='Shepherd'] (6'1" | John Curtis)

[player_tooltip player_id='2132768' first='Westin' last='Starkey'] (5'9" | French Settlement)

[player_tooltip player_id='2532378' first='Jeremy' last='Williams Jr'] (6'2" Denham Springs)

[player_tooltip player_id='2025206' first='Kortlan' last='Williams'] (6'1" | David Thibodaux)

[player_tooltip player_id='2532380' first='Joshua' last='Wilson'] (6'4" | Lafayette Christian)

[player_tooltip player_id='2532380' first='Joshua' last='Wilson'] and his otherworldly athleticism was on full display during the ID camp. His defense and finishing ability in transition were highlight worthy. [player_tooltip player_id='2194365' first='Jeremy' last='Williams'] goals during the ID camp were to put pressure on defenses and get to the rim. I believe that worked. [player_tooltip player_id='2025206' first='Kortlan' last='Williams'] is a smooth and heady point. He knows when to score and when to facilitate. [player_tooltip player_id='2529000' first='Tyler' last='Brazier'] can get to the rim. His height is not a deterrent. [player_tooltip player_id='1975865' first='Zaveon' last='Shepherd'] cannot be left alone behind the arc. If he is, count the bucket for three. [player_tooltip player_id='2132768' first='Westin' last='Starkey'] can turn defense into offense quickly with his persistence on defense. He proved to be deceptively quick at the ID camp getting to the rim on several occasions.

Honorable Mention

[player_tooltip player_id='2132730' first='Brody' last='Bridges'] (6'4" | Ponchatoula)

[player_tooltip player_id='2132761' first='LG' last='Carbo'] (6'1" | St. Thomas More)

[player_tooltip player_id='2132747' first='Ian' last='Edmond'] (6'1" | Zachary)

[player_tooltip player_id='2532363' first='Braedin' last='Hopkins'] (5'10" | Northshore)

Troy Hudson III (6'0" | Crosby HS - Texas)

Daniel Kelly Jr (6'0" | Ascension Episcopal)

[player_tooltip player_id='2132727' first='Anderson' last='Popov'] (6'1" | University Lab)

[player_tooltip player_id='2443431' first='Abram' last='Taylor'] (6'1" | Holy Cross)

We will see these sophomores at other camps and during this time of year. Look for these players during the season when they are at home or in your area.
