PHN Middle School Camp (IL): Team 1 vs 6 Standouts

Are you searching for the top talent in the Midwest? Look no further. The Prep Hoops Next Middle School Camp was stacked with talent. The top 6th-8th graders put on a show in Lisle, WI. There were some familiar faces but also some new names that NEED to be on the radar as they continue to develop into promising athletes. Below are some of the athletes that stood out throughout the camp.    Scott comes to camp after competing in summer ball with Prolific. He returns to Murphy Junior High School this fall. During camp Scott showed off his ability to shift defenders. His agility allowed him to break away from pressure and get to his spots. He scored it on all three levels of the floor including some tough floaters.     Gatson has been in the lab working on his game all summer. He returns to Kaneland Middle School this fall. He came to camp on a mission to make a name for himself. His composed approach to running the offense was on full display. He set the floor for Team 1 in a major way. When defenders chose to give him space he quickly capitalized with deep range jumpshots.       McKnuckles spent his summer months running with The [program_tooltip program_id='2075383' first='Chicago' last='Demons']. He heads back to Ravenswood Middle School this fall. He brought his hard hat to camp. He provided a brand of full court pressure that caused chaos for opponents. He provoked bad passes and created steals for himself. On the offensive end he showed his ability to thread some needles with some high level passes for Team 1.      Oliver caps his summer ball after running with [program_tooltip program_id='2075622' first='M14' last='Hoops']. He returns to Kenyon Woods Middle School this fall. During camp the high IQ guard spaced the floor out for Team 1. He pushed the pace with and without the ball. He had a balanced yet impactful showing against Team 6.      Wagner returns to Thompson Middle School this fall. He spent his summer months running with STC Travel. At camp he was spacing the floor a great deal for Team 1. He knocked down catch and shoot opportunities. Wagner also showed off his ability to make the timely extra pass. Most impressive was his ability to compete well contested shots from bigger defenders.     Halberg ran with a solid program in Illinois Game Time over the summer. He returns to Cardinal Joseph Bernadin this fall. At camp he showed off his ability to space out the floor for Team 6. His awareness and court vision allowed him to have a composed showing. Halbert needed to be accounted for on the perimeter as he was a thread to knock down the three ball.     Billingsley comes to camp before heading back to Kenwood Academic Center. He spent his summer months running alongside First Step. At camp he proved to be a composed combo guard. He showed off his ability to swift gears and control the tempo on the offensive end. What was also impressive was his willingness to board with the bigger bodies.
