On Saturday, September 8th, I attended the Hoop Mountain Fall Showcase at Mass Premier Courts in Foxborough, MA. Over 100 players came from all over New England and beyond. They did some skill work with college coaches from around the area and then got into 3v3 and 5v5 scrimmaging. Here are my part 2 standouts — part 3 will be coming out Tuesday!

One of the most fun players to watch at the showcase, Milicic was making the right play again and again, even in an environment where many players are playing no pass, isolation basketball. He makes quick decisions with the ball and will never hold in on the perimeter, but he plays at his own pace and never gets sped up by the defense — I especially loved his slow step footwork in the paint. Very skilled and finesse, hard playing guy who will definitely play college hoops at the D3 or D2 level. Keep an eye on him this season.

Huss won't wow you with size or athleticism, but he's a solid combo guard that can play both on and off the ball. He's got a nice-looking, accurate three-point shot and good vision when it comes to finding cutters with the pass. He also always defends hard and seems to be a very well-conditioned athlete. His size will be a limiting factor, but I bet Huss will be able to find somewhere to play D3 hoops, and going against prep school players will help him these next couple years.

Jamieson is another Marianapolis Prep kid who simply understands how to play the game. He makes great decisions in terms of when to be aggressive and when to find his teammates, and he's got some athletic pop at the rim in transition. His most impressive skill is his shooting, though; he's got a nice shot and can shoot it with great range and accuracy. Perfect system player that should thrive at Marianapolis, and I could even see him continuing to grow based on how his body looks. D3 or higher future ahead for the rising junior if I had to guess.

Lichtenstein is undersized for his position, but he's got a flamethrower for a right arm, which allows him to always have a translatable skill that makes him valuable on the court. He's got a nice-looking release and the ability to get his shot off with defenders draped all over him. Defensively, he plays hard and can guard his position. He'll need to get quicker with the dribble if he wants to play at the mid or high D3 level, but the rising junior has time to do so.

Don't tell Grudzien that players aren't supposed to defend full court in a showcase, because he's going to do it anyway. The Marianapolis Prep sophomore is an absolute dog on that end of the floor and was giving ball handlers hell all afternoon. Offensively, Grudzien is a strong downhill attacker who loves to get to the spin move and can elevate and finish with both hands at the cup. The future is very bright for him, and any level of ball is on the table for him.
