SWFL Summer Standouts, Second Five

With travel season and summer leagues coming to a close, and these student-athletes gearing up to get back in the classroom, let's take a closer look at some of the standouts from the area who had themselves a productive summer on the court. A lot of basketball was played this past summer and number of SWFL prospects took advantage of it and made a name for themselves, and some even started garnering attention from coaches at the next level.    Llamo is a coaches dream and a hardnosed player who just loves the game. He played on multiple teams this summer and was a standout with each one of them. He has an excellent basketball IQ and is a true leader who's always trying to make his teammates better. The 5'10" CG is a gym rat himself, where if he's not on the court you, will find him in the weight room bettering himself. He is a strong-bodied guard who plays the game hard and does a little bit of everything. He is a tremendous passer with great court vision and is one of the top shooters in the area, especially from behind the arc where he shoots it at a very high rate. Look for Llamo to have a big senior year and be the heart and soul of his Golden Eagles.     One of Charlotte's many talented guards, Ellis is a playmaking CG who really turns heads with his defense. He is willing to guard any position and will be in your face for 94ft just trying to cause havoc. He is excellent at turning defense into offense, where he looks to force steals and is always having his hands up in the passing lanes. He did a little bit of everything over the summer; scoring when needed, rebounded the ball very well from the guard spot, and just did his thing on "D". He is a gritty player who's willing to sacrifice his body for the team and do whatever it takes to win. Ellis is a team first guy, and will be a key factor for Charlotte and their hopes of making it back to the Final Four this season.     Another one of Charlotte's guards, Chin loves to play the game with the ball in his hand. He's a smart player who sees the court very well, and is a great decision maker. He looks to get his teammates involved but also has the ability to score in bunches. The 5'10" CG has a smooth jump shot and is very efficient from both the mid-range and behind the arc, and for a guy his size he's not afraid to drive the hole and finish at the rim. He's a pesky defender who looks to force turnovers and get out and run. Chin played a lot of basketball this past summer and took advantage of each opportunity, producing night in and night out against some very strong competition. Chin should have a another successful season in 2024-2025 and be a key part to Charlotte's success.     Childs is a true team player and a bit of a swiss army knife for his CSN squad. He's a strong-bodied kid who has great speed and quickness for his size, but also has the strength to be a factor down low. Listed as a guard, he mainly draws those assignments, but the 6'2" senior isn't afraid to matchup with the bigs either. He's a position less player in a way, where he can guard 1-5 and create mismatches on offense. Childs is a great two-player and an excellent rebounder on both ends of the floor. He can score inside and out, but where he excels is behind the arc where he shoots the 3-ball at a very high rate. Childs will be a key piece for CSN in his senior year and look to have another successful season for the Seahawks.     Corona is new to SWFL and I was very impressed when I first watched him play earlier this summer. He brings great size from the guard position and also plays with a little chip on his shoulder. He has a strong knowledge of the game and great awareness on the court. The 6'2" CG is a 3-level scorer who can knock down shots from anywhere on the court, but also sees the floor very well and is a great passer. Corona plays with tremendous energy and passion, and you can tell he has a real love for the game. Look for him to make a splash in his first season with Dunbar and turn some heads in SWFL.
