Taylor is a 7 footer with great reach and instincts around the rim. Taylor knows that any shot around the rim is his to block. He's great on help-side defense and discourages drives with his presence. Taylor also knows how to use his length to close gaps on shooters and block or contest jump shots.

Wilkins averaged nearly 2.5 blocks a game last season and is likely to keep up his pace this year. He's a versatile defender who protects the rim in a variety of ways. His length and athleticism allow him to block shots as a help defender. He is also strong enough to wall up post players and time a blocked shot.

Hardgrave is going to be one of the biggest, strongest, and tallest players on whatever court he steps on. He plays very physical basketball and wants the ball in his hands. This translates to blocked shots, steals, and deflections. Most of Hardgrave's blocks come inside the paint where he can use his strength to wall up his matchup.

A point guard averaging 1.4 blocks per game is pretty rare and impressive. Pierce has a long reach and is great at contesting shots vertically. He's aggressive in transition, allowing him to block shots and strip ball handlers before they can get a layup. Due to his height advantage over most guards, he is also effective at blocking, altering, and contesting jump shots.

Moree is a long athlete who can take up a lot of space when contesting shots. When guarding in the paint, Moree can be the second jumper and still rise above the shooter for a block. He also uses his reach and speed to block shots out of a closeout and in transition.

Taylor doesn't have the numbers as some of the other players on this list, but I'm excited to see how he can develop as a shot blocker. Last season, Taylor was one of the top freshman shot blockers in all of 6A. Despite being only 6'0”, Taylor is an explosive athlete who can get up with players taller than him. He's capable of highlight transition blocks and is already a solid, aggressive defender, averaging 1.8 steals per game as well.
