PH Freshman Showcase: Team 3 Evals

The quality of basketball was very high and there were players of all skill sets to see. His defense definitely caught my eye. Singh showed quick hands on D, giving him the ability to disrupt the dribble or even take it away. I really loved his willingness to work after that pass, by either screening on and off the ball or by cutting to the rim. Lyons is a bouncy athlete that rebounds high and can attack the rim. He also showed range on his jumper with a catch and shoot wing 3. Lyons was willing to sell out and hit the floor for a loose ball as well. Murray could go with both hands, but was very strong with his right. He drew fouls numerous times while going at the rim with the ball, both off dribble drives and in the open floor. He saw the floor very well, found space and got the ball there. Albring liked to advance the ball with the pass and was very accurate with his down court passes. This definitely put pressure on the defense to get back. He also showed the ability to use the bounce pass to feed the post. Enter Kronberg. The young man and his game scream lead guard. Kronberg always plays with his head up looking to find a teammate or move the ball. He was intelligent and timely with his passes at the showcase. Kronberg could use his handles and shiftiness to hit the paint and make plays with the pass from there. His basketball IQ was very apparent throughout the day. Bascom was very versatile. He was very conscious of playing help D from the opposite block and showed off power moves off the block off 2 feet. There were multiple times when Bascom finished through defenders and contact. His defense was terrific in Grand Rapids. Bascom was very physical on that end and closed out fast and high on shooters. He's a really solid perimeter passer as well. Well here's another part of that equation. Costigan was very impressive at the Freshman Showcase and will be an outstanding addition to the Saline program. He had strong hands, almost looking like a wide receiver. This was advantageous for him as a cutter. Costigan was sure handed on the catch on the way to the rim and consistently finished on cut-catch-score situations. He was aware of the action when he had the ball and threw efficient and effective passes. The Dexter program should be very excited to see what they have on the way with [player_tooltip player_id='2525441' first='Brady' last='Bishop']. I really liked his approach to showcase basketball - a willingness to do anything and everything to win, even the "little" things. These little things make big time basketball players. Bishop walled up and contested in the paint and was able to help on the perimeter and cut off dribble drives. Obviously, everyone at first notices his thick and strong frame and his potential to dominate the paint. And he did show that he could do that. Willhite was able to finish over both shoulders and was also able to power finish through defenders. But he also showed that he could pull his game out to the perimeter and had to be guarded at the 3 point line.
