<p>Quarles is a physical presence to get to know in the NCHSAA 1A ranks with Corvian Community School. He was a pivotal piece in their run to the state finals with his abilities as a defensive anchor. He kicks off the list of returners in blocks per game after averaging 1.6 blocks per contest in 2023-24. While rebounding is his biggest strength, scoring on him is a bigger task, especially in the painted area. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">9) [player_tooltip player_id='2523173' first='Ryan' last='Howell'] | 6'7 Forward/Center | Pender High</h3>

<p>Howell is a sizeable name to know in the Pender High frontcourt in 2024-24 given his production on the blocks front. He's the ninth best returner in the NCHSAA 1A ranks after racking up 1.8 blocks per game to lead the Waccamaw Conference. He's a defensive presence to know with the Patriots.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">8) [player_tooltip player_id='2523155' first='Cam'ron' last='Myers'] | 6'5 Forward/Wing | Lejeune High</h3>

<p>Myers is an active and sizeable presence in the Lejeune High frontcourt at 6-foot-5. He checks in at No. 7 in the top returners in blocks per game after producing 2.3 per game. He ranked eighth in the 1A East by season's end and showed he could impact the game as a shot-blocker and disruptor in the paint. He'll look to pick up where he left off heading into his senior year. </p>

<p>Moncrieffe is an emerging 2025 prospect to know out of Queens Grant High in the Charlotte metro area. He utilized all of his 6-foot-2 length this past season in the backcourt as he returns at seventh in top returners with 2.4 blocks per game this past season. He swatted a season-high seven blocks back on Dec. 1 and will look to do a lot more heading into 2024-25. </p>

<p>Richardson is a high-flying prospect to get to know in the 2026 class at Northwest Halifax in NCHSAA 1A. He checks in in a three-way tie for the sixth-best returner from a season ago with 2.9 blocks per contest. He's got a strong knack for flying around the rim on both ends of the floor. He's due for a breakout junior year as he continues to develop. </p>

<p>Goss is one of a few names from Excelsior Classical Academy ready to make some more noise with a new season on the horizon. He returns after racking up 2.9 blocks per game this past season, including two 6-block and three 5-block performances under his belt as he heads into his senior year.</p>

<p>Barnes is a prospect in North Carolina's 2026 class to get to know in the Tarboro area at North East Carolina Prep. He's shown he can generate double-doubles with his energy and athleticism and returns in a tie for sixth in blocks per game (2.9) from a season ago. After racking up 20 double-doubles and a season-high six blocks on two seperate occasions he's one to keep an eye on. </p>

<p>Couch is already a top returner on the rebounding front and he hasn't stopped there. He's a rim-altering hybrid forward presence for Cape Hatteras High to know after racking up 3.0 blocks per game in 2023-24. He had a season-high nine blocks against Croatan High back on Dec. 1 and has a lot more to prove heading into his senior year.</p>

He's already a top returner in rebounds and returns ranked second in blocks per game (3.2) from a season ago. He's shown he can fill up the stat sheet in a number of ways with his length, athleticism and skill set. </p>

<p>Sawyer is a name to know in the NCHSAA 1A ranks as he's a top returner on a number of lists. He leads the way as the top returner in blocks after racking up 6.6 per game in his sophomore season. He ranked sixth nationally in blocks this past season, according to MaxPreps. He's a junior who's just scratching the surface of what he can on both ends of the floor and due for a breakout season in 2024-25. </p>
