On Saturday August 27th I attended the Hoopers Only Hoop Life Regional Championship at the Phhacility in Phx,AZ. I checked out about 15 different programs from AZ and here were some of the standouts.

We start with the pure PG's

[player_tooltip player_id='2506439' first='Marcus' last='Llamas'] Sahuaro (Tucson Spartans 15)

The younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id='1893665' first='Cisco' last='Llamas'] is a pure PG. The ball is on a string for him and gets the ball out of his hands so easily. He is a true needle threader but can also score. He can hit the three off the catch or pull from mid. He has nice speed in the open court and puts pressure on the defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2506516' first='Tyshawn' last='Tyler'] Sandra Day O'Connor (Rise 14)

A shifty point guard can score with perimeter jumpers and hesitate and freeze the defense to get downhill. He is patient in the post and will go up after the defense reacts. He will score with reverse layups and almost makes opponents fall with his tight handle. He can create his own offense and score with deep threes and has next level court vision in stride to a teammate.

Carmine Flores (AZ Legacy Elite 14)

A two-way point guard will find players in stride. He scores in transition with his speed, gets to the basket with his toughness and stronger frame and will pull-up from mid-range. He will rip some pockets and then take it down the court and score it.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133646' first='Myles' last='Godfrey'] Cactus Shadows (Hoop Code 16) (Pictured)

A long pure point guard who can score. He is very shifty to get to his spots. He can burst to the basket and score or hit the deep three. He got hot and hit five triples with a pretty stroke. He sees plays developing very quickly and makes passes with either hand. His pull-up off the dribble from mid-range is becoming a weapon and his ability to change speeds makes his game go.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598402' first='Johnny' last='Rios III'] Centennial (Hoop Code)

A pure point guard with great timing on his passes. He places the ball where the player will be. He uses his left or right hand seamlessly. He can score also with speed dribbles, floaters and threes off the catch. The rising junior will guide his West Valley team to the playoffs this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591738' first='Jeehzus' last='Pagan'] Boulder Creek (Hoop Code)

A defensive pure point guard is improving his offense. He will hesitates and then blow by his defender getting downhill to his spots with his speed with the ball. His passing was impressive with live dribble passes straight into a teammates shooting pocket. He can hit the three and his pull-up gets better every year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2506524' first='Colin' last='Godfrey'] Cactus Shadows (Next Year) (Hoop Code 16)

A two-way pure point guard is the younger brother of sophomore standout [player_tooltip player_id='2133646' first='Myles' last='Godfrey']. He has a little size already with some length. He plays like a facilitator first with the older players with drive and kicks and has the speed to touch the paint and find a teammate. His defense for his age stood out with his quick feet, length and hands. He will be one to watch for the 2029 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2052368' first='Makhi' last='Anthony'] Phhoenix Prep (Tru Heat 17)

A quick on quick real point guard who will drive and kick it to a shooter. He is very fast in the open court and has the proper shift to create his own offense with step back threes, pull-ups from mid to the three and speed bursts to the basket. He plays fast but has a good pace to switch speeds to score or make a play.
