The Freshman Showcase in Baton Rouge had a wealth of talent. While the top six players were highly impressive, there were other players who showed their mettle. These players are some of the guards and wings we will be talking about over the next four years. In this Freshman Showcase review, we will look at seven other 9th graders readers need to know.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532079' first='Bryson' last='Alcorn'] (5'9" | Slidell) - Alcorn measured at 5'9". However, he looks and plays like a much taller player. Alcorn has long arms and used them during the showcase to rebound and defend. He also displayed that he has outside shooting ability along with the wherewithal to get to the rim. Alcorn has a bright upside and will definitely be a player to keep our eyes on.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532105' first='Kristian' last='Aubrey'] (5'10" | ARCA) - Aubrey played more as an off-ball guard during parts of his day in Baton Rouge. He has some legitimate guard skills, however. Aubrey keeps his head up and makes good passes when he is in transition. He has the makings to be a good lead guard from what I see. Kristian is definitely a guard we will need to watch this year and beyond.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532092' first='Donte' last='Bourda'] (5'4" | ARCA) - Bourda is a guard who put a ton of pressure on defenses during the Freshman Showcase. He is a smaller guard but he is very fast. When Bourda pushed the ball, he ended up getting chances for layups or he got fouled. He also displayed that he can blow by defenders in the half court. If Donte keeps using that ability, he will be a problem for defenders going forward.

Calvin Dagley (5'9" | Calvary Baptist) - "Pac-man" Dagley has a bright future as a point guard in Louisiana high school hoops. During the Freshman Showcase, he made plays early and often. Dagley is a heady point guard. He takes openings in transition when he has them or he makes passes to open teammates. When he shoots, he shoots with confidence. Dagley is a point guard who plays the lead guard the right way.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532112' first='Zion' last='Delong'] (5'8" | East Ascension) - Delong was not a primary ball-handler during the Freshman Showcase. However, when he gets the ball in transition or the half court, he knows what to do with it. Delong can run the wing like a forward and finish at the rim. He is also an aggressive player who can get down hill quickly. His finishing ability in both situations will make him an asset on the floor for EA.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532089' first='Darren' last='Ford'] (6'3" | Ouachita) - Ford was one of the better players from north Louisiana to attend the Freshman Showcase. He proved that he could handle the ball very well and displayed a very consistent pull up jumper. Ford has a strong body and was able to shrug off contact and get to spots he liked. His combination of offensive skills show he can be an asset to the Lions maybe as early as this season.

Garrett Terrebone (6'1" | Christ Episcopal) - Terrebone was one of the hardest working players at the Freshman Showcase. He set up his teammates for success habitually by setting solid screens and rebounding the ball. Terrebone did not serve as one of the offensive focal points. However, when he caught the ball in the post, he converted. His hard work paid off repeatedly for his team during the showcase.

The Freshman Showdown was an event that highlighted some of the better freshmen in the state. These players represented their sector of the state and themselves by playing well. I believe that this group can be very good as they continue to improve.
