Prep Hoops has done it again, hosting another successful event in the sunshine state while providing a platform for rising student-athletes to showcase their skills. The PH Freshman Showcase was hosted in Longwood, FL on Saturday where prospects demonstrated their skills and competed with and against their peers. Let's get into Drew's Part I breakdown of top performers throughout this event.

Quinton Wilson Jr | CG | 2028 | Victory Christian | @crusaderball23

VCA and head coach Steve Fitzgerald is establishing a pipeline of elite players coming out of the Polk area and this kid will add to a developing list of rising stars. Wilson is only a 2028 prospect but could be the most exciting to watch in the country. He's made some noise this summer period while showing off his high upside to onlookers at local tournament events. We got eyes on him at the PH Freshman Showcase this weekend where he was nothing but the Real Deal. He can do it all on the court as a combo guard with great athleticism, good speed and strength to force the action, and a jump shot that just keeps getting better. Watch out for this kid's development.

I was excited to finally get my eyes on one of the true rising phenoms in the 2028 class in [player_tooltip player_id='2436958' first='Camden' last='Cooper'] and left impressed with his overall game and upside for the next level. He's a lengthy prospect for his age at around 6-5 but it was the knockdown jump shot and versatile scoring bag that caught my attention. He's getting love from colleges such as Texas A&M but has plenty of time for recruitment down the road. Cooper has the support and resources around him to add to his frame where he can be more effective on the boards and defensive end but he showed all the tools this weekend at the PH Freshman Showcase to progress into a national recruit.

[player_tooltip player_id='2242995' first='King' last='McMillian'] | CG | 2028 | @Kingetscash3

Another fast rising 2028 combo guard who has been on our radar for some time is [player_tooltip player_id='2242995' first='King' last='McMillian'] who left the PH Freshman Showcase as one of the top performers regardless of class. As noted, McMillian boasts a 6-3 frame that he uses to get to the rim for flashy finishes. It's the overall game that locked him in as one of my key standouts. This kid can hit knock down threes, keeps his head up to make impressive passes, and can also lock up on defense when needed as he's a longer guard with good movement. This is one to watch as he has great upside for development.

[player_tooltip player_id='2195017' first='Branden' last='Sharpe'] | CG | 2028 | Westminster Academy | @BrandenRazor

I'm not sure if there was another shot blocker as good as 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2195017' first='Branden' last='Sharpe'] regardless of class this weekend at our PH Events. He was one of the taller prospects around his peers who had to play out of position but made the most out of his reps. I could tell he wanted to handle the ball a bit more and force the action. That's what impressed me because he balled out just letting the game come to him. Sharpe was a rim protection who showed off good strength and athleticism but also had some tough And 1 finishes and scoring plays.

LJ Byrd | F | 2028 | Windermere Prep | @LJ_BYRD

Had to show some love to the big guards who may have to play out of position as LJ Byrd finished as one of the better paint players to show good hustle and finish at the rim consistently for this age group. Byrd has a decent 6-6 frame and was one of the bigger prospects to attend the event. He's playing at a solid program and should see some time on the floor this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2195020' first='Elliot' last='Graham'] | G | 2028 | SJCD | @SJCDHoops

You're going to stick out when you walk in the gym with flashy white dyed hair and that's just what 2028 G [player_tooltip player_id='2195020' first='Elliot' last='Graham'] did as he stamped his name as one of my top freshman standouts because of his consistent scoring efforts on the offensive side and the good energy on defense throughout the PH Freshman Showcase. He and his family made a move down from Alaska where he's getting comfortable with the competition in the Sunshine State. He's also at a solid program where he should see time on the court this season.
