All roads led to the lovely Hyvee Arena in Kansas City. Programs from across the country showed up and showed out. It is safe to say teams that were cooking and competing at a high level in every bracket. The energy on the sideline and in the stands were second to none in an electric environment, teams fought tooth and nail for Championship honors. It was hard to highlight only a handful out of so many impressive prospects competing this weekend but here is my “Two Way Prospects To Know” who competed in Prep Hoops Next Nationals.

Denney brought energy and size to the floor for KC Sixers Supreme. He really stood out to me as a mid post playmaker. He provided a huge target for guards in trouble or looking to run offense through him. When probing the floor he found cutting teammates and recognized open players on the skip pass. Cash really impacted the game with his commitment to boxing out and being physical in the paint as well. He wore down opponents quite a bit with his selfless approach to the game.

Walker had a solid showing at Prep Hoops Next Nationals for Team Griffin Academy. He proved to be very agile and shifty at the combo guard position. I like the quick and concise decisions he made off of the catch, and his attack of closeouts and trailing defenders. He showed glimpses of being a deep range threat in spurts. He did most of his damage in the mid range area shooting over the top of opponents looking to help.

Gullory was one of the quickest players from end to end that I watched at Prep Hoops Next Nationals. He had great control over his pace with the ball in his hands, and proved he was capable of stopping on a dime as well as changing directions. His playmaking was apparent as he found teammates a great deal after knifing through the paint. He speed impacted both ends of the ball for Arnold Elite by way of retrieving 50/50 balls and filling the lanes.

Sorenson was a threat on the perimeter on both ends of the floor for RC Select. His activity at the top of the zone was apparent, directing traffic and causing awkward passes from his opposition. He impacted the offensive end as well, spacing the floor a great deal with corner threes and “one more” passes to teammates. Although he was off of the ball quite a bit, when he did have the ball in his hands he did not disappoint. His guard skills and confidence when driving were in full effect as he was adept at playing off of two feet and utilizing his pivots to buy time to make decisions. His awareness and approach to the game impacted the showing we saw from RC Select.

Holt was impactful in spurts for Prime Time Hoops at the Prep Next Nationals. He was a good source of scoring in the painted area via his speed and athleticism. Against zone coverage he found himself and teammates open in weak spots in the defense. He snatched more than a few rebounds for the average prospect of his stature. Most impressive was his ability to take on much bigger matchups over the span of the weekend.
