The Oklahoma State Tournament kicked off today on July 27, 2024. It brought several great players from across Oklahoma and other states. He grabbed one rebound after another and turned multiple offensive rebounds into second chance points. He excelled at getting good positioning and using his size and post moves to get to the rim for easy buckets. In his repertoire, he showed the skills of using the crab dribble, using a spin move, and going over the defender. He came away with a steal and played good interior defense. It was a good game on both ends of the court and on the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2499154' first='Jacob' last='Matthews'] played similar to his brother, Augustus. He rebounded extremely well, getting good positioning and securing the board. He turned some of these into second chance points. He showed the ability to finish in traffic and was pretty efficient from the free throw line. On defense, he played good interior defense and had a block. He did well on both ends of the court in this one.

Jack Horiuchi was doing everything for his team to help them stay in this game. He was exceptional at rebounding, grabbing a ton of defensive and offensive rebounds. He turned some of them into second chance points, but a bulk of his scoring came at the free throw line. He shot 8/8 from the free throw line and also knocked down a triple. On defense, he was playing good on ball defense, tipped the ball away, and also came away with a steal. It was great game for him all around.

Caleb Mathew was one of the best game managers and defenders I saw. He took pride in locking up on defense, which led to him coming away with several steals. On offense, he would always look to find his teammates. He could score when needed, with one example being him utilizing a hesi move to blow by the defender before hitting the mid-range pull-up. He always played with energy and hustled for every loose ball and through screens. With how he played, it reminded me of John Stockton. Stockton is the all-time leader in steals and assists, but was an underrated scorer. That is how Caleb plays.

Messai Wake was doing several things to help his team win. He was all over the glass, grabbing one rebound after another. A lot of these were offensive rebounds. He showed the ability to drive and finish as well as finishing around the rim. He had a steal that led to him scoring in transition, as well. On defense, he was also playing great perimeter defense and fighting his way around screens. It was a good game for him, helping his team win.
