NCHSAA Team Camp: C/0 '27 Triad Standouts

Team Camp in North Carolina has begun to hit its stride with some of the best prospects and programs showcasing who and what they're all about. Teams all over the Tar Heel state have taken the hardwood to compete with the best this summer in preparation for the 2024-2025 high school season. Among them are teams from the NCHSAA representing the Triad, an overlooked, underrated region home to some big-time prospects and programs. Let's look at the standout prospects in NCHSAA team camp play, specifically from the class of 2027, who are representing the 336.   I'm excited to dive deeper into our class of 2027. As this summer turns into next fall, this is a class who will start getting more coverage and attention. This is a high energy, beyond talented class who's turn it is to make a strong impact on high school hoops.    Class of 2027 wing [player_tooltip player_id='1808845' first='Amari' last='Robinson'] is an up-and-coming prospect out of Southern Guilford High School in Greensboro, N.C. Elevated last month to our North Carolina class of 2027 updated rankings, now is the proper time to introduce the young prospect and give some inside to his game. He's got a lot to it.   At 6'3", [player_tooltip player_id='1808845' first='Amari' last='Robinson'] is a strong two-way wing who is a competitor on both ends of the floor. Robinson utilizes his athleticism and length to his advantage and does most of his damage attacking the basket and finishing at the rim. He's got a quick first step and is an elite playmaker who excels out in transition facilitating fast breaks. Robinson is a high motor, high IQ guy who's premier decision making and naturally-gifted athleticism makes him a versatile wing. As he continues to progress his game this summer, keep an eye out for [player_tooltip player_id='1808845' first='Amari' last='Robinson'] to have a big year in 2024-2025.     Next up is [player_tooltip player_id='1811583' first='Kasai' last='Poindexter'] just down the road at Page High School in Greensboro, N.C. A below the radar guard in the class of 2027 who has the potential to be a big-time high school player, let's take a look at Poindexter's game.   There's a lot to like about [player_tooltip player_id='1811583' first='Kasai' last='Poindexter']. Listed at 5'10", although I'd argue he's a true 6'0" flat with one or two inches to grow, Poindexter has the frame and style of play that all great point guards have. He's an elite ball handler who utilizes his speed to penetrate the lane and make plays for himself and his teammates. Poindexter is a strong finisher at the rim, who, despite a leaner frame, has proven he can execute through contact. What stands out most about his game is his leadership and vocality on the court. Poindexter is a guy who takes command of the backcourt and puts his team in the best position to be successful. With a Page squad that is looking to add more depth and leadership to their backcourt, I expect [player_tooltip player_id='1811583' first='Kasai' last='Poindexter'] to play a big role on next year's team and see his stock rise momentously.     Staying in Greensboro, [player_tooltip player_id='1811555' first='Sherman' last='Winston II'] is an intriguing prospect out of Grimsley High School, a respected program in the NCHSAA. As Winston II enters a highly anticipated sophomore season, I expect him to make a huge leap as he has the opportunity to contribute to Grimsley's backcourt in 2024-2025.   [player_tooltip player_id='1811555' first='Sherman' last='Winston II'] is a versatile scorer who lives for big moments. The first time I had heard of him was after knocking down a game-winner to advance his team in a highly regarded AAU tournament. Simply put, he's a confident bucket-getter who excels in his role as his teams go-to-guy. Winston II is a skilled perimeter shooter who has developed a consistent three ball. He moves well off the ball and does a nice job of creating space for himself to get open and make a play. Winston II makes smart decisions in transition and lets his athleticism take over when he needs to make a big play. There's a ton of up-side with [player_tooltip player_id='1811555' first='Sherman' last='Winston II'] and I'm excited to see his guy progress. This is a talented Grimsley roster with some nice pieces, but there is no doubt he's got the opportunity to contribute meaningful minutes and be an impact player in 2024-2025.     [player_tooltip player_id='1808852' first='Kamden' last='Higgins'] out of West Forsyth is a guy who got some attention last year as a high school ready prospect with a unique skillset. His evaluation in 2023 was spot on. Finishing a strong freshman season, Higgins looks to build on that momentum with his innate point guard abilities as the foundation of his growth.   At 6'0", [player_tooltip player_id='1808852' first='Kamden' last='Higgins'] is a point guard who looks the part. He's tall, long, athletic, and is one of the best floor generals in his class. Higgins is a knock-down shooter who can operate along the perimeter or behind the three-point line with ease. He's an elite distributor who plays with a pass-first mentality. With aspirations of being a vocal part of West Forsyths' backcourt next season, expect [player_tooltip player_id='1808852' first='Kamden' last='Higgins'] to be a guy who continues to see his stock rise and show up in big-time games in 2024-2025.     Let's turn to town rival East Forsyth High School where we meet combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1808856' first='Zah'Miere' last='Harris'].   Harris is a do-it-all kind of guard who does whatever his team needs him to win. He's an elite scorer, solid ball handler, and tough defender who prides himself on toughness and physicality. Harris is a versatile playmaker on both sides of the floor who loves to compete. He does a nice job of knocking down contested shots and creating space off the ball. Harris is a solid defender who can guard 1-3 and matchup and lockdown opposing teams' scoring threats. There's no doubt Harris will be considered for a prime spot in this teams backcourt next season, and he's already shown so far this summer he wants it.     [player_tooltip player_id='1808844' first='Evander' last='Davis'] is another prospect out of Grimsley who I like to watch play basketball.   Davis is a highly skilled combo guard who plays at a high level on both ends of the floor. He's an elite catch and shoot type of guy who understands spacing and moves well without the ball. Davis is creative in the lane and makes plays for himself and his teammates. He's a high-quality shot taker who is not afraid to let it fly when he gets a clean look. Harris is a gifted defender who plays tough on ball defense anchored by clean footwork and competitiveness. [player_tooltip player_id='1808844' first='Evander' last='Davis'] is a guy who can help this Grimsley squad right now, and I believe he'll have ample opportunities to earn his minutes in 2024-2025.
