USE CODE “baxley30” FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

The 2024 Adidas 3SSB Championships at Palmetto Road continued with Day One of Bracket Play on Thursday in Rock Hill, South Carolina. There were Top Prospects, Grassroots Programs, College Coaches, and Media Personalities from all over the country in attendance for an exciting day of Basketball. Check out these six prospects who stood out from the 17U Divison on Thursday:

Clayton is a big man who had a terrific performance for Dream Vision 17U in their First Round Matchup with Arkansas Hawks. He displayed terrific instincts for finding rebounds and loose balls, strong rim protection, and polished feet in the post. Mpiana is strong enough to where he won't get bullied around the paint and doesn't need many offensive touches to be a successful player. In the win over the Hawks, Clayton put up 6 Points, 10 Rebounds, and 2 Blocks in 17 Minutes.

Another one of Dream Vision 17U's standouts from Thursday was [player_tooltip player_id='1630625' first='Aaron' last='Glass'], who is a familiar name from 3SSB Session 2 in Birmingham. Aaron is a true playmaking guard who is a three-level scorer and is confident from anywhere on the floor. Although he was pretty efficient from the perimeter knocking down 2 of his 5 attempts, Glass was most effective getting downhill and finishing through and around contact. His determination and skill should make up for his lack of positional size and the next level and I would be confident in his abilities wherever he goes.

Brayden Boe was one of my standouts last year at the Adidas 3SSB Championships and I was impressed with him again this time around. He can be effective at either position in the backcourt due to his size, shooting, and playmaking. Brayden won't get bullied on the defensive end and even forced a couple of turnovers from the UBC Guards. He has a very balanced offensive game as he must be respected from the perimeter, can pull up in the mid-range, will finish athletically at the rim, and even backs down smaller defenders into the post. He put up an efficient 14 Points for Beauchamp Elite on Thursday Afternoon.

Ervin also had a bright game for Beauchamp Elite in their win over UBC Elite. Gelonni is a terrific athlete who excels in rim running and shot blocking which would project him as a big man at the next level. He is very mobile but doesn't float around the perimeter very often because he can be so effective in the paint. He can also be a good option in the pick-and-roll and has good post-footwork. One thing Ervin can improve on is his activity on the glass, which would be important for him to be a true 5. He was still very good despite that and went for 11 Points and 3 Blocks.

Trent has been running with Indiana Elite all season and has been a major producer in their successful Regular Season. Sisley is a very active cutter which can be harmful to opponents who pay too much attention to his talented teammates. He is also another one of those guys who doesn't need the ball often to be effective as he had a big scoring game yet had few plays run solely for him. Trent finished with 22 Points on 10-12 FG and 2-3 3FG, displaying an effecient shooting ability along with size to finish at the rim. I see his game translating extremely well to the Big Ten and his Top 5 is fittingly Iowa, Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue, and Notre Dame.

Elijah Benning was one of my favorite under-the-radar prospects from Thursday in Rock Hill. He did a terrific job of creating scoring opportunities for his teammates, particularly on dribble drives where he would beat his defender and dump off to his big or kick out to open shooters based on where the defense rotated from. Elijah is very crafty with the ball in his hands and can get through small spaces on his way to getting a paint touch. Benning is also capable of getting his own bucket and favored a floater in the matchup I watched, going for 8 Points to go with 8 Assists and 3 Steals.
