June Update: 2025 Point Guards to Watch

In this article, we are going to highlight several players to keep an eye on at the point guard spot. Each player is a prospect to watch out for on the club circuit as well as during the high school basketball season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2375905' first='Trenton' last='Haygood']-Point Guard-Camden Fairview-5'9”</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2375905' first='Trenton' last='Haygood'] is a great athlete. He is a player that opposing teams must account for on the hardwood as well as on the gridiron. Haygood does a great job of using his quickness. He has the ability to take opposing guards off of the dribble. Haygood gets into the lane and can make the extra pass or finish with a basket. He is unselfish with the basketball and is always able to find the open shooter. Haygood is a player to pay attention to this offseason for Camden Fairview.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2392149' first='Derek' last='Shepard']-Point Guard-Fort Smith Northside-5'10”</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Northside point guard handles the basketball well. He is not careless with the basketball. Shepard seems to always know where his teammates are on the floor. He is unselfish with the basketball and sets up the open shooter with accuracy. Meanwhile, he has the shooting range to hit from anywhere on the floor. On the defensive end of the floor, Shepard plays tight defense and can turn the defense into offense in the blink of an eye. The Northside guard is a prospect to watch out for this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2424700' first='Daviyon' last='Bell']-Point Guard-Des Arc-6'1”</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2424700' first='Daviyon' last='Bell'] is an explosive player at the point guard spot. He has the versatility to guard several positions. Bell stays active on both ends of the floor. Bell gets into the passing lanes and can ignite the offense on the defensive end of the floor. Meanwhile, he can light it up quickly from anywhere on the floor. He is an accurate shooter and can rack up the points in bunches. Des Arc is a team to watch out for this upcoming season. I expect a big season from Bell.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2282081' first='Zahir' last='James']-Point Guard-Bentonville West-6'1”</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2282081' first='Zahir' last='James'] does a great job of moving without the basketball. He does an impressive job of creating his own shot. James shoots the ball well and with plenty of consistency. He is able to get going quickly on the offensive end of the floor. James is unselfish with the basketball and has no trouble finding the open shooter. Meanwhile, he stays active on the defensive end of the floor and has no problem playing tight defense. James does the little things to gain control of the ball. He is a player that I expect to have a strong 2024 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
